|Annie's POV|

This was a disaster, poor Kim was in the hospital on her birthday, and she was having such a good time too. She said this was the best birthday ever, and then she had an allergic reaction.

Matt wanted me to stay overnight with him just so he would feel better, so we were sitting on the couch in silence while the others went to bed. Poppy was laying down on the floor at our feet, whimpering.

The doctors told us that they don't know if she will live or not, and Matt was so scared.

He said that he won't adopt anyone else ever again, because no one could replace Kimberly, she was special to him and to everyone else.

I leaned my head against his shoulder, and he wrapped his arms around me. "This is my fault..." I heard him whisper, and I looked up at him and kissed his cheek.

"No it's not." I insisted.

"I forgot about her peanut allergy, and that little amount of peanut butter killed her." He sniffled as he started crying. "Mathew Espinosa, she isn't dead!" I exclaimed.

Matt nodded, running a hand through his hair. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean..." He said, but he started crying again. A few tears fell from my eyes as well, and somehow I managed to fall asleep, but my dreams were all nightmares about seeing this little girl dead in the hospital.

-next morning-

|Matt's POV|

I woke up to hear the ringtone on my phone go off, and I slowly reached into my pocket and put it to my ear. "Hello." I said. "Hi, is this Matt Espinosa? This is Kimberly's doctor." He said.

I suddenly was wide awake as I sat up, causing Annie to wake up as well. "Is my daughter okay?!" I yelled In the phone. "Well, she's gotten better." He said, and my heart did a flip in my chest. "Can we come see her?" I asked, and I heard the doctor chuckle. "It's only a family visit, and you need to be gentle." He said, and I laughed in joy. "Of course! We're on our way over now!" Then I hung up.

"Was it the doctor?" Annie asked. I nodded and hugged her tightly. "She's okay... Oh thank the gods, Kim is going to be alright." I said, and Annie hugged me back.

"Let's get going!" I exclaimed.
