"I'll be honest, we thought 'Momo' was a fake name."
"And you were still willing to let me live in your apartment?" Momo stared at the three men in confusion, her eyebrows furrowed, her full lips turning into a slight frown as they stared at her like she was a crying child they didn't know what to do with. The one with yellow hair outwardly cringed at her very reasonable response to his statement. In all truth, the reason they were so hesitant was because of one simple fact.
She was a girl.
It wasn't that they were sexist or anything. They respected women fully and, yes, they did believe in total equality, but had they ever live with a woman? No. Save for their own mothers, the three men had never once lived with anyone but each other or inconsequential male roommates.
"I mean... That's not...Yes?" The man Momo had come to know as Denki looked like he was about to pass out from the stress of having a girl standing in front of him and the other two guys just stared at her with indiscernible expressions. A soft-looking boy with wild green hair and a heavy splattering of very visible freckles across his kind features, and a man who was actually quite attractive and hella built with dual-colored hair and heterochromatic eyes stared at her strangely. She stared back with a small wave. Neither of them had said a word to her since she had arrived and it was starting to get a little unnerving. "Look, you were willing to pay rent."
"And I still am. So, what's the problem?" Momo asked innocently, really hoping that the answer wasn't what she thought it was going to be. Three guys, one apartment, a new prospective female roommate. It was crystal clear what was happening, but Momo was begging them not to be the kind of guys that would refuse to live with someone because of their gender.
"The problem...I mean like, it's not a problem, per se, but, uh...not in a sexist way or anything, but you're a girl," And there it was. Momo had to force the rising anger in her chest not to spill over as her hands gripped the metal countertop of the kitchen island and she plastered on as friendly a smile as she could muster. "We've never lived with a girl before." This was the fourth apartment she'd visited and she was really tired of looking. Sure, she could've found a smaller one and paid rent all on her own, but she had school bills to pay. There was no way she was looking at another one.
"Well," She tried to smile. "You see, it's not that different from living with a guy. I still pay rent, I pick up around the house when necessary, I pitch in on cooking and cleaning when I can and I promise to keep my music to a respectable level at night when I'm studying. In fact, the only difference between me and a male roommate is that I have a vagina and breasts," Her voice and expression dead-panned in a way that clearly sent shivers down the spines of the three men. "Now tell me, Denki, are those going to be too distracting for you?"
She suppressed a glare as she watched the dual haired man look off to the side and the freckled boy avoid eye contact with the angry girl at all costs. Meanwhile, the blond didn't have such common sense and gulped as he replied,
"Um...no?"
"Great!" She clapped her hands together with the sweetest smile before she turned around, her ponytail flipping behind her. "In that case, I'm going to pay a quarter of the rent as agreed upon. Also, if you don't mind, I'll be doing laundry because if I happen to trip over a bra that isn't mine at three in the morning," She gestured to a hot pink undergarment that lay across the coffee table, earning an awkward look from the dual-haired boy. "I'm going to go apeshit on you." She gave them the sweetest smile before bouncing off to collect the seemingly endless supply of random clothing that littered the ground.
Shouto watched as the bright-eyed girl gingerly peeled the bra off the glass coffee table. He was pretty sure that belonged to whatever girl had scampered out of their apartment just before Momo had arrived, but he kept his mouth clamped shut. Is this what having a female roommate was going to be like all the time? Becuase he would have to start being more careful about where he scored if so.
