NOTE: I'm so sorry this took so long. I was planning on having it out two days ago but I'm really irresponsible... so yeah... Also, this is a really fucking long chapter because reasons? Yes, okay you may read now, sorry.
"I'm not going out for Valentine's Day," Momo insisted as she sat on the couch, nose buried in her textbook. Valentine's day had snuck up too fast on the raven-haired girl for her liking. She always ended up forgetting it was near the beginning of February and then she was caught totally off-guard when someone reminded her. Not that it was really like she wanted to do anything special for the holiday anyway.
There were multiple reasons Momo didn't want to go out for Valentine's Day. For one thing, it always happened during school and if there was one thing Momo hated more than being considered a lonely loser because she was single on a day someone decided was special a long time ago, it was being behind on school work. Also, it wasn't like Momo was some prolific dater who had a ton of boyfriends and she definitely wasn't built for one-night-stands.
"Oh c'mon, Yaomomo! It'll be super fun and we can get shit-faced together you could have sex for the first time since you-know-who," Kyoka flopped down on the couch, resting her head in Momo's lap. Momo cast a sarcastic glance bordering on a glare down at her best friend who just shrugged as if she hadn't known what she'd just done wrong.
"One, I don't want the guys knowing about my sex-life, Kyoka. So, please, no discussion of him around them. And two, you know we don't talk about him. Period," The raven-haired girl pointed accusingly at her purple-haired friend who sat up just to give her the mopey face the always made when she wanted something from Momo. It worked almost one hundred percent of the time which is why it was annoying as fuck. "No, Kyoka."
"Please."
"No, it's stupid that I should have to drink on Valentine's Day! And not only that, how do you expect me to get drunk and have sex. Kyoka, consent is a cornerstone of sex, and guess what is much harder to do when you're shit-faced?" Momo argued, snapping her book shut as she stood up and walked to the kitchen for a glass of water. "Give consent."
"Okay, I get that, but guess what's harder to do when you're not shit-faced?" Kyoka challenged, draping herself over the back of the ouch to get a better look at her best friend as she poured herself a glass of water. "Forget that your douche-bag-ex-boyfriend cheated on you while you were getting stitches for a getting in a bar fight, which was started by him, by the way. Then tried to claim he was moonlighting as a nurse and giving the girl he was screwing a physical when you found them fucking in an empty hospital bed." Momo sighed knowing she kind of had a point.
"Kyo, I get it. He was an asshole, but is that really how you want to spend your Valentine's Day?" Momo said, compassion lacing her voice as she glanced up at her best friend sympathetically. It was no secret that Kyoka should've dumped her ex who was obviously cheating her and doing a bad job of hiding it much sooner, but the purple-haired girl was stubborn as ever in her resolve to change him. Needless to say, she'd failed in that respect.
"Yes. I want to spend it sad and alone and drinking my feelings while I make some guy fall hopelessly in love with me because he saw me dancing to a Taylor Swift song. That's my idea of fun," Sometimes Kyoka was so sarcastic that she was actually being serious, and even though Momo had a pretty grip on her best friend's speech patterns, it was still hard for her to tell occasionally. "Momo, please, don't make me go out drinking alone."
"Oh my god," Momo grunted, knowing that she was going to be dragged into this no matter how hard she fought it. Kyoka had a special way of getting her to do things that thoroughly annoyed the raven-haired girl because it worked almost one-hundred percent of the time. It was just in the way she begged Momo for some things even though Kyoka was terribly stubborn and normally would sell her soul before begging anyone for anything. "Fine, you know what, I'll go, but I'm not going to hook up with anyone. So no trying to set me up with the first guy you meet who's above average attractiveness, okay?" Momo pointed accusingly at her best friend and Kyoka nodded vigorously just as the suddenly opened to reveal her three roommates who had been spending their day off out.
