Everyone stays silent for a few seconds, a heavy feeling of dread hanging in the air. Hongjoong bravely decides to finally cut through the silence.
"What happened?"
"I was sleeping, but when I heard my door closing I woke up to find a letter on my chest. I read it and-" He stops talking abruptly, tears threatening to spill. Hongjoong walks up to the bed slowly. He reaches for the letter and gently tugs on it, as if asking for permission to read it. San's grip loosens, confirming it.
Hongjoong's eyes scan through the messy handwriting on the page, words clearly written in a rush. His eyes also widen as he progresses.
"Someone kidnapped her! And they said they'll give Soojung back if San...dates them instead?" Hongjoong puts his face closer to the paper, slightly baffled by the foolish request of the kidnapper.
"And they're also asking San to kill Soojung with his own hands, who could even do this?" His arms start to shake in rage.
"Eunha." San responds quietly, looking into the distance. His head suddenly whips up. "In the letter she said to meet her behind the hospital. Could you guys make an excuse or somthing for the doctor if they ask where I'm gone? I'll hopefully not take too long." San explains while pulling out all the needles from his hands and arms.
"Are you actually going to do what Eunha asked for?" Mingi asks, concern overflowing from him. San responds with silence, while beginning to stand up.
"But is it not dangerous to move in your condition?" Mingi warily places a hand on San's shoulder, stopping him from standing up fully. The boy looks up straight into Mingi's eyes.
"I can heal faster than you humans." He says, a hint of aggression in his voice as he pushes Mingi's hand off. Mingi stands shocked at the amount of strength in San's arm.
Without another word, he exits his own hospital room, leaving the other four boys standing in disbelief.
He walks through the hallways, hoping no one will stop him. After not running into anyone at all, he lets out a sigh. Now standing outside, he waits for further instructions.
"Sannie! Follow me." A faint female's voice seductively calls for him from the dirty alley. His head whips around to the direction of the sound. He instantly recognises it as Eunha's voice and his blood starts to boil.
After not seeing anyone in the alley, he storms into it to find her. "Just keep walking straight!" He hears the scarily smooth voice again, a bit further than last time. His breathing quickens and his head starts to throb with anger.
"That's right, let the anger control you. Become what you're supposed to be! Become a demon once again."
A scream escapes San's mouth. The voices add to his frustration and he feels like his head is about to burst. He decides to force himself to calm down, not wanting to do something he'll regret.
Plus he just doesn't want the voices to have it their way.
He continues to dash forward. Suddenly pain shoots through his arm and spreads in his chest. I must not be fully healed yet.
Now limping, he finally escapes the alley into the large area again. He looks around, waiting for Eunha's voice to guide him again. He stops when he notices a piece of paper at his feet.
"Good luck finding us, I'll be waiting for you with her." He reads the contents of the paper out loud. He wants to rip it into shreds and stomp on it, but he holds back. He doesn't want to let his anger control him again.
He walks around the different warehouses, hoping to find another clue maybe. He starts to breathe faster again when he sees a small shed between the giant buildings.
He gets closer and closer, until he can nearly taste the pain and suffering in the air. His fists clench.
Please let her be okay.
His arm reaches out for the door, and he pulls it open with ease. As soon as his mind registers the sight in front of him, he drops to his knees.
He looks up to see Soojung lying on the ground, arms and legs taped up. Her arms and legs are purple and red with bruises and blood. Her face is mostly untouched, except for a large cut on her forhead, from which the blood drips down her face. She's still conscious, but barely. Her eyelids look heavy and her breathing is slow.
Everything grows blurry quickly as tears pour out of San's eyes.
"Princess, I'm so sorry I'm late." He sobs as he crawls towards her. Her eyes slowly lift to meet his, and a slight smile grows on her lips, but she doesn't say a word.
Before he can reach his girlfriend however, Eunha stands in between. "Enough reuniting, now kill her!" she exclaims, dropping a dagger in front of him. "We'll talk more later. If you don't kill her, then I'll kill both her...and you!" she says cheerfully while picking up the crowbar again.
San's fingers wrap around the handle of the dagger. He looks at Soojung's frail body and for a moment it feels like he just got stabbed in the heart with the dagger he's holding.
Kill Eunha he thinks to himself. Would that be the right thing to do though?
"Kill her. You can't let a human treat you like his, stab her quickly before she even realises what's going on."
As soon as the voices enter his head once again, he knows he shouldn't kill anyone. But what can he do? If he doesn't kill Eunha, then his love will die.
"San?"
Everyone freezes when they hear Hongjoong's voice calling out from a distance. He's not too close to the shed, but he'll easily find it if he keeps looking.
"I told you to come alone." Eunha hisses, putting down the crowbar. Instead, she picks up a small pistol. "Now we'll have one extra corpse to clean up."
While she's distracted, San carefully cuts the tape wrapped around Soojung with shakey hands. As soon as she's free, she lies on the floor, letting out a weak sigh. He reaches his hand out to comfort her, but stops when the voices grow louder.
San starts to panic. Both his mind as well as the voices from hell scream at him to stab Eunha. But for once he's doubtful. How will he become a good person if he stabs someone right now? He turns around, staring at Eunha with a racing mind and heart.
Eunha walks towards the door of the shed and San can't stop shaking as he automatically hangs his head. If I don't kill her now, Hongjoong will die.
Suddenly, he senses movement and whips his head up.
Just as Eunha is about to open the door, San sees Soojung holding the crowbar high, ready to attack.
She heavily inhales, and swings the crowbar at the back of Eunha's head with all her might before the two girls collapse in front of San.
