Soojung is completely zoned out until she feels a touch of warmth on her hand. Slightly startled, she quickly looks down and sees San's fingers inching towards her hand. He stares at the fountain, so Soojung curiously watches his hand. It creeps onto hers, before he quickly grabs it, sneakily interlocking their fingers, reminding her of when he did the same thing at his house a few days ago, except this time her hands really are cold.
Heat rises up into Soojung's face but she doesn't understand why. Her heartbeat suddenly increases in speed and she grows quite flustered. Despite it all, however, she secretly enjoys the feeling of his soft hands intertwined with hers so she decides to not mention it. She glances at San and finds him smirking, still staring into the distance.
"I want to get to know you better, princess. Tell me a bit about yourself." San softly says. Soojung is so entranced by his dark, mysterious eyes that she completely forgets her situation. As soon as she opens her mouth to speak, it hits her. She can't talk about her life before this, so what should she say? She feels herself freezing up as the colour drains from her face.
Out of nowhere, an idea hits her. No one said she has to talk about her past.
"I love chocolate and pastries" She begins. "I love nature because I find it so fascinating! I guess my favourite colour is blue because it's the colour of this beautiful shirt you gifted me. And my favourite fruit will have to be apples because that's how I met you!" She innocently finishes. The entire time, her words warm San's heart. The usual San would make a move on her at this moment, but she was so wholesome that for once he feels something. It's a foreign feeling to San, but he feels as if his stomach is being tickled with a feather from the inside.
Soojung is just as unknowing to this emotion as her cheeks glow red in the golden sunlight. Her tiny hand clutches San's tighter while she stares into his reflective eyes. Suddenly, his dark eyes wash over with mischief as an idea rolls into his head.
"Your hands are so cold" He pouts while grabbing Soojung's other hand. After a pause he adds, "Want me to warm them up for you?" Better take advantage of her innocence before Wooyoung gets here he thinks to himself, his wholesome thoughts rapidly fading.
"And how will you do that? Unless you somehow brought a blanket-" Soojung quickly shuts up, completely astonished by San's actions. Without any warning, he pulls her icy hands underneath his top and he rests them on his bare chest. Even though the crisp, cold feeling felt intense on his skin, it was all worth it to see her reaction.
Her face had never been so red before, and her mouth unconsciously drops open. Completely stuck in place, Soojung simply feels her numb fingers slowly coming back to life after leeching the heat from San's tough chest. She doesn't even notice that her breathing has quickened immensely and she continues to stare at San in shock.
A wide grin grows on his face. "Is that better, darling?" He shuffles closer and holds her frail hands tighter to his chest. Still stunned into silence, she concentrates on his heart thumping against her palm and notices how it's pumping very fast too, just like hers. "W-why is your heart beating so f-fast?" she hardly stutters.
"Take a wild guess honey" he chuckles. "You drive me crazy, if it isn't clear to you now then I don't know how else to show you" he breathes.
All of a sudden San's head jerks forward after being smacked on the back of the head by Wooyoung. "You absolute pervert! At least don't do this in public!" he screeches, followed by a mumbled "I need bleach for my eyes right about now."
Soojung abruptly snaps into her senses as she whips her hands out of San's shirt as quickly as she can. "I-it's not as it seems! He was just trying to heat up my cold hands, it's that right San?" San stares at her with disbelief before switching rapidly. "Yeah! I'm very pure and wholesome" He says in a childish tone, causing Wooyoung to grab and twist his ear like a mother. A high pitched squeal emerges from San and Yeosang joins in by grabbing the other ear, increasing the volume of San's squeals of despair.
Although a part of Soojung wants to tell her brother and Wooyoung to leave San alone, she also finds the situation quite entertaining so she sits beside him on the bench and howls with laughter.
While playing around with the boys, San notices Soojung's adorable laughter and he finds himself smiling once again. He subtly wriggles his hand into hers again and they both squeeze their hands together while the other boys obliviously scold San.
For once Soojung feels okay with going against her brother. She feels comfortable with taking such a risk for the first time, so there's no doubt that San's presence has some influence on her.
Once the boys are done playing around, Soojung sneakily unclasps her hand from San's and innocently looks at her brother, who gives her a reassuring nod.
"Hey doll, there's a party I'm invited to in two weeks and I want you to come with me. How's that sound?" San sweetly asks Soojung. "There is no way I'm letting Soojung go to a party with you" Yeosang spits. Wooyoung throws San a glare too, further disallowing him. Since when did the two of them get close enough to start backing each other up? he thinks to himself.
"Fine, whatever" he shrugs nonchalantly, while standing up. "We should go now, it's getting late and it's already dark. Thanks for bringing us here" Yeosang says with a straight face to San, but he smiles when he turns to Wooyoung. "See you on your first day of work then!" Wooyoung beams back as he turns to leave. "Goodnight princess" San whispers into Soojung's ear, causing her to blush again. He nods again before turning as well and following Wooyoung. One thought keeps whirring around in San's mind on his walk home.
He knows he's been restricted from bringing Soojung with him to that party but now that he's set on a goal, nothing can stop him.
He will definitely bring that girl with him no matter what.
