chapter fifteen — you're scared of the dark?
"see you tomorrow!"
the four waved at each other and left school, except for dahye, of course.
she sat at the bench and waited for jeno but fifteen minutes passed and jeno has not shown up.
"maybe he left already"
dahye thought to herself and shrugged, pulling out her phone.
'incoming call from "dad" '
"hello?"
dahye raised her phone to her ear.
"i'll be late again, very late actually. is that okay?"
her dad said through the phone.
"yeah, i have some work to finish to"
dahye lied so that her father wouldn't feel bad and hung up.
dahye looked around and spotted jeno's car, she also noticed his driver waiting for him in the driver's seat.
"so he's still here?"
she asked herself and furrowed her eyebrows.
dahye slung her backpack over her shoulders and went back in, her first thought told her to go to her classroom, so she did. dahye opened the door and there jeno was, sitting on his seat wearing headphones, listening to music. he seemed to not notice dahye walking in so she walked up to him and tapped his shoulder. jeno looked up and paused his music, taking of his headphones.
"oh hey"
jeno said.
"hi, what are you doing here?"
dahye asked, sitting next to jeno.
"i needed to be alone, just listening to some bigbang songs to get my mind off things"
"oh, you need to be alone. okay, i'll go now"
dahye stood up but jeno held her wrist.
"no, don't. we always spend after schools together, i was going to leave anyway"
he said and took his backpack.
"you sure?"
she asked, looking up at jeno who was a lot taller than her.
"yeah, school's scary when it's dark"
jeno replied and dahye burts out laughing.
"you're scared of the dark?"
dahye said in between laughs.
"everyone has their own fears, mine happens to be darkness"
jeno whined while dahye still let out a few laughs.
"you're right, i'm just surprised a tough guy like you is scared of the dark"
"what's yours? i'm sure you have fears too"
"i'm scared of heights and people leaving, that's why i don't want to get too attached to people"
dahye replied, looking at jeno who was already looking at her.
"i could say i'm also scared of people leaving, but i always try my best to spend time with them and make the best out of it in case they leave"
