Miles, Y/n, and Flora all headed to the stables. Flora started to take Delilah out of her pen until Kate walked in. Flora turned away from Kate.
"Flora?" Kate called out. "Flora?"
"Leave her alone," Miles told Kate.
"Flora can you look at me?" Kate continued
"She doesn't wanna talk to you. You terrified her," Miles stated. "Where'd they find you anyways?"
"You know, you need to stop talking to me like that," Kate responded.
Y/n watched them bicker back and forth pondering if she should say something or not. Kate was her sister after all.
"You're not our mother, you're not our family. Stop pretending to be," Miles explained.
Kate had an almost smile plastered on her face. Maybe because she just didn't know how to respond? It was a kind of look that a young child would give when they were trying to lie about something but ended up laughing mid-sentence. Kate scoffed.
"I'm leaving," Kate claimed.
She looked at her sister y/n, expecting her to walk with her away from the stables. But she didn't. Y/n wasn't completely sure what her sister meant by "leaving" anyways. Maybe she was just gonna take a walk?
"Yeah! Just leave. Leave like everyone else," Miles added.
Kate looked back at Miles and hesitated but ran out of the stables. Y/n had tears forming in her eyes. She didn't know if her sister was being serious or not. And if she'd just leave her younger sister like their own father had done to them. Miles had a some what shocked expression on his face when Kate actually left the stables. His expression soon dropped when he saw y/n's.
"Hey, are you okay? Look, I'm sorry about what I said to your sister I-" Miles assured but Y/n cut him off.
"It's fine. I know that it was wrong of her to do that to Flora anyway. I just— I didn't think she'd just leave without telling me to come too.  All she did was look in my direction," Y/n shrugged.
Flora walked up to them and wrapped her arms around y/n.
"Thanks, Flora," Y/n chuckled.
"Would you want to go?" Miles asked.
"I mean— she is my sister. I think I would go. Not that I'd want to. You guys fun to be around," Y/n chuckled.
"If you stay you could be our sister!" Flora jumped with excitement.
"U-Um maybe not so much our sister. Or at least, not mine," Miles amplified what he was trying to say.
"Flora! I've made your favorite pie!" Mrs. Grose called out.
"Coming! I'll be right back," Flora smiled at us and ran off.
"So, you were saying?" Y/n questioned.
"It's just-- I can't really see you being my sister is all," Miles blurted.
"Oh.. okay," Y/n replied.

"Um wanna take Delilah riding for a bit? There's something I'd like to tell you on the way," I said.
"Yeah, sure!" Y/n agreed as she smiled at me.
Everything about her was just so beautiful. From her face down to her body. I didn't know someone could look so perfect.
I got on Delilah as Y/n held on to my waist from behind. I didn't want to take Samson since Y/n was still getting the hang of being on a horse. So I thought we'd both just ride Delilah.
"Y/n..." I spoke in almost a whisper.
"Yeah?" She perked her head up from leaning on me.
"The reason I wouldn't want you to be my sister.. is well.. I like you more than that and, I know it's only been a few days but I've just never felt this way with someone before," I admitted.
"Miles.. I feel the same way," Y/n responded now as red as a tomato.
I got off of Delilah as soon as we made it to the koi pond. I helped y/n down reaching my hand out but even when she got off the horse I couldn't let her hands go.
"Do.. Do you trust me?" I asked.
"Yes," Y/n nodded.
I looked at her lips and back at her eyes. And, well, how else can I even say it. I kissed her. I hadn't tasted anything sweeter than her lips before.
"Hey! Guys! Mrs. Grose told me to tell you there's more pie if you want," Flora shouted running close to where we were.
Y/n and I quickly detached our lips from each other as Flora came running to us.
"Sure," We both laughed anxiously wiping the saliva from our lips.

After eating some pie, Flora headed back to the koi pond.  She was clearly still upset because of Kate.  But she insisted she was fine.
"I'm sorry,"  Y/n randomly blurted as we were headed to my room.
"Pardon?"  I added.
"For my sister.  I don't know why she would act like that,"  Y/n rambled on.
"You can't really control her actions.  Don't blame yourself,"  I answered.
She gave a weak smile that quickly faded.
"Is.. everything alright?"  I said confused.  We were now entering my room.  Y/n sat on my bed, well, mattress.
"Yeah, it's just... nevermind,"  She cut herself off.
    "No, continue.  Please,"  I insisted.
"Miles.. I know I've only been here a few days but.. you've managed to make me feel happy.  Happier then I've been in a long time.  Hanging out with you, I just have no care in the world.  It's like... I'm in a movie or something,"
I smiled at her as she hesitated but quickly wrapped her arms around me.  It took me a minute to understand what she was doing but then I figured it out.  A hug.  She was embracing me in a hug.  Being with her... it made me feel.. less numb.

Y/n's head was on top of my lap, as I caressed her hair.  We were listening to "Mother" by Courtney Love.  There was a knock at the door.
