Fighting for Us

It rained for weeks, pushing off the sale of the house long enough to fix things. I came out of my room for food, and school. Bought a lock for my door to keep my "father" out. I avoided Gray with the best of my ability but he cornered me

Izabella: Please don't do this

Grayson: I'm formally declining your break up

Izabella: Is that even a thing?

Grayson: It is now, You left before I could catch you and your mom said you needed some space so I waited and I would like to have my girlfriend back.

Izabella: Gray, I can't do this right now. Or ever for that matter, until this whole house thing gets sorted out. I can't be in a relationship with you that's bound to end.

Grayson: What makes you think it would end?

Izabella: I would end it. I mean I would never cheat on you, but this change is different. This change from being able to walk to you house everyday for eleven years. To seeing you once every what two weeks. I can't do that

Grayson: I'm not giving up on us

Izabella: I've got to go to class

I walked away from him heartbroken and also starstruck. I sighed and did my work avoiding my feelings. Nova comforted me when she could and I hadn't brought myself to tell Opal and Gracie. I made it through the rest of the school day and locked myself in my room. My things had been moved I could tell and it just felt wrong. I was hoping and praying it was Mom.

Izabella: WHO WAS IN MY ROOM?

Mom: Just me

Izabella: Okay, how'd you get in

Mom: I know how to use a bobby pin very well

Izabella: So does that mean you figured out how to save our house

Mom: I told your father if he didn't fix this we'd get a divorce

Izabella: You don't mean that do you?

Mom: I kinda do, I'm not going to spill the personal details on you but I'm saving our house.

I nodded and hugged her

I never meant for this to happen, for my parents to get a divorce but now that I think about it. He's never here, they never talk when they're in the same room together. It was a bomb waiting to explode.

She left and I sat in my bed, I was about to start journaling but I realized I don't have mine anymore. I found a notebook in my closet and started writing all the things I felt or thought I felt. I jotted down every work that came to my mind until there were too many. I looked out my window and saw Gray coming towards my house. He spotted me and instead of knocking on my door he climbed into my window.

Izabella: You can't be here

Grayson: Why not?

Izabella: You're my ex

Grayson: Again I formally reject your break up, however I will give you space. Though this is yours

He handed me my journal and my necklace was dangling out of it

Izabella: I left this for you, why are you giving it back?

Grayson: Because our story isn't over, but I did add a chapter. I'm gonna go I can see the sadness in your eyes.

He kissed me and I never wanted him to let go. He slowly pulled away

Izabella: Don't

I pulled him back towards me and we made our way to my bed. Letting him go was harder than I thought. We made out and then I finally came to the realization I was supposed to be pushing him away. I pulled away from him and put my head on his chest. I wiped his mouth and stared at him.

Izabella: I'm sorry, I shouldn't have...

Grayson: But you didn't do anything wrong.

Izabella: Gray I love you, you know that, you read, you've felt it. But I don't want to be miles away from you.

Grayson: So move in with me...

We both kinda stopped

Izabella: Rethink what you just said.

Grayson: Move in with me, I'll get us our own place and we can stay together

Izabella: Gray, we can't afford that. We can't keep ourselves afloat that way.

Grayson: I can, you learn a few things when you grow up the way I did.

Izabella: My parents would never allow that

Grayson: Let me take care of you

Izabella: I can't put that on you. I can't force you to take care of me because my dad is stupid.

Grayson: Get emancipated, you'd be responsible for yourself

Izabella: Gray, I'd have to have a steady income and a home.

Grayson: There's gotta be some way to keep you here

Izabella: I'm trying, but I can't make promises that I'll be here next week.

Grayson: Let me talk to my parents, we have an apartment close to school that we rent out. I'll buy it from them and I'll get a job to make more money and take care of you.

Izabella: I think you should go, I need sometime to think about it

Grayson: But it's not a no?

Izabella: It's a maybe, if it comes to that... we can start forever a little early

Grayson: Okay

He crawled out of the window and I just laid down confused and excited. I went downstairs for dinner. My father cleared his throat to get everyone's attention

Dad: The house has been sold I can't get it back.

Izabella: Mom, told me about her ultimatum and honestly I think you need to step up your game. You're gonna lose the best thing that's ever happened to you because you're never home. Look this isn't about me anymore it about the both of you. Dad you need to find a hospital job and stay put. Mom you need to hold your ground until he makes a change.

Mom: What do you mean?

Izabella: I want both my parents at my wedding together and if you get a divorce well we both know who's side I'm on if we're being completely honest. Which means if you love me at all, which I suspect you do,

I pointed at my father

Izabella: You'll stop being an asshat and spend some time with your wife. When was the last time you took her out on a date. You're supposed to be the romantic ya know. And Mom, just because he does one nice thing doesn't mean you need to forgive him right away. It's a slow process. Now I'm not saying you should never forgive him but you've got sturdy ground. KEEP IT.
