Sometimes love stories do end. Some are perfect and put together. Cliche. But not this one. This is what can be real. Something that happens often, not everyone has perfect lives. That is shown well with Emma and Ben. But they have each other to push through it. I lay in bed as I catch a glimpse of my aunt in the hall.
"Hey." I say.
"Hi honey." She says sipping her mug.
"Is Ben here?" I ask.
"I don't believe so." She says shrugging.
"Oh." I sigh.
I watch as she walks out of my room, leaving me laying in my bed with scrambled thoughts. My phone rings in my pocket. Getting a burst of joy I answer the call.
"Hey!" I cheer into my phone.
"Hi." Ben chuckles.
"What's up?" I ask.
"I was hoping you'd want to meet today." He says.
"I would love to." I say smiling.
"I'll be there soon." He says.
"Okay love you." I reply.
"Love you."
I end the call and walk down stairs to wait for Ben.
"Is he coming over?" My aunt asks.
I nod while looking out the window.
"I did that." She says proudly.
I turn to look at her grinning face.
"What?" I ask laughing.
"If it weren't for me this wouldn't have happened." She says.
I shrug, "I guess."
She laughs lightly before I hear Ben's car pull in front of the house. I quickly kiss my aunts cheek before rushing down the stairs into Ben's arms.
"Someone is excited." He teases while squeezing me.
"I can't be?" I ask.
He shakes his head with a smile, "I never said that."
I pull away and examine him, he looks a lot better. His bruises and cuts haven't been there in a long time. It's been a year now, I think he moved away from his dad but didn't tell me. Some part of me is hurt that he hasn't told me, but the other is proud of the man he's become. I support him no matter what.
"You okay?" He asks.
I look up at him snapping out of my thoughts.
"Yeah." I shrug, "Just lost in thought."
He nods before pulling me into his car and beginning to drive. The silence is comfortable and actually nice. Something tells me Ben is anxious or maybe uncomfortable do to the way he's moving around in his seat. I take a few glances over with a smile.
"You're excited." I point out.
He nods, "Of course! I can't wait!"
I groan, "Can you just tell me?" I lean my head back.
"Nope, you'll just have to suffer." He says smirking.
I roll my eyes and cross my arms over my chest jokingly. My stomach hurts with joy as we finally pull into a parking lot.
"Okay." He sighs unbuckling.
"We're here?" I ask.
"No, just have to pick something up." He says chuckling.
Groaning I fall back into my seat, "Ugh!"
"Just be patient." He says opening his door.
I sit and wait while listening to the radio. He's taking a while and it only worries me. Every part of me just wants to get where he's taking me so I can either be happy or mad. I'd rather be happy but sometimes not everything is. Boy have I learned that.
Soon enough I see Ben rushing out of the building with a smile as he stuffs something into his pocket.
"Hey." He smiles sitting in the seat.
"Hi, what took so long?" I ask.
"I had to go over things." He says pulling out.
"About?" I ask trying to push it.
"Nothing you need to worry about." He assures.
I roll my eyes huffing, "You do that a lot." He says.
I look over at him, "What?" I ask.
He rolls his eyes making me laugh, "Sorry." I say.
"You're anxious, I get it babe." He says.
Whenever he called me that it made my stomach flip, in a good way of course. He made me so happy.
"Ben?" I ask feeling sad.
"Yeah?" He takes a quick glance at me.
"Is it something good?" I ask.
"Of course, at least I hope so." He says.
I kiss his cheek and take one of his hands before getting comfortable again.
"Emma."
"Em."
I open my eyes and see Ben smiling at me. It's late now and I'm more confused than ever.
"Where are we?" I ask sitting up.
"We are here." He says.
I look around at the buildings but it's nothing special. He furrows his eyebrows at me while frowning.
"What?" He asks, "Expect something big?"
"Well..." I tail off.
"It is big." He says, "When you fully understand."
I nod while unbuckling and putting my phone in my pocket.
"Come on." He says hopping out of the car.
I follow him into a building I'm not familiar with, he smiles back at me every few minutes until we step into an elevator.
"What is this place?" I ask.
"Ummm.... Well it's something special." He hides his face.
When the doors open I follow him out until stopping. Looking up at him he smiles before covering my eyes.
"Do you trust me?" He asks.
"Of course." I say smiling.
My view is quickly turned blank as Ben guides me wherever. Our foot steps are all I can hear as we make our way there.
"Okay, now open." He says pulling his hand away.
I open my eyes to see a living room with a TV and a few furniture pieces. Quickly, I look over at Ben who's waiting for my reaction, but I'm confused.
"What's this?" I ask walking around.
"It's... home." He says making me turn, "If you want."
"Are you serious!?" I yell.
