Duke's POINT OF VIEW
I closed the book I am holding and looked up on my Mom. She is always there for me whatever the circumstances are in my life. She keeps caressing my hair as I read her published story.
"That was so LIT, Mama. Now I know why Papa hates that story of yours."
She devilishly smirked, "I don't care. That's his punish---" Mama was interrupted what she is about to say when Papa came in wearing his black suit.
"What is this all about?" Papa asked.
Tumayo ako at lumapit sa kaniya. "Hi Papa. I just finished reading a new book." I teasingly showed him the book I am holding.
With wide eyes, he looked at my mom with disbelief who is smirking at him. My Mama really loves bullying Papa even for so much years they have been together.
"Ga, why did you let him read that book!" Papa hissed while Mama keep chuckling to herself.
She kissed Papa quickly, "What does my baby wants for dinner?"
Napaisip naman ako. "Cronut Mama?"
I looked up on Papa asking for some help. But he just smirked at me, "Prepare your soul, Son."
Dad looked at me with what's-wrong-with-your-mom look. I just shrugged before I uttered the words, "Mama, can we have General Tso's Chicken and Chicken Riggies?"
She turned her head on me, "And for dessert?"
"Salad Mama." Nakangiti kong sagot sa kaniya.
She nod and smiled at me that melts my heart. Before she continue cooking pinalayo niya si Papa dahil abala daw ito kaya naman tinabihan na lang ako ni Papa at masaya namin na pinanuod si Mama na naghahanda ng dinner namin.
"You're no longer mad at me, Mama?" Tanong ko sa kaniya.
She sighed before meeting my gaze, "Not because we give everything you want and need that doesn't mean you will be abussive." She messes my hair. "You must never forget the house rules and your limitations. You got me, anak?"
Tumango ako. "Yes Mama. I'm sorry for that."
"It's okay. You're now a man. You grew so fast."
Tumayo ako at umikot papunta sa tabi niya. I hugged her from her waist and burry my head on her chest.
"Mama, I'm just 16. I am not that old for you to worry like that. I will forever be your baby, right?"
She smiled at me before she kissed my forehead. "You will always be my baby even if your hair turned white."
We stayed for some minutes on that position. My safe place will always be my Mama's arms. I can still remember whenever I get hurt and get wounded before nagpapanick talaga siya. Kulang na lang ay isugod niya ako sa hospital that she could forget that my Papa is a doctor.
