Scott:
I didn’t feel like going downstairs. I wasn't looking forward to bump into Wolverine, who would no doubt irritate the hell out of me, ruining my peaceful, perfect morning.
Lacking better things to do, though, I decided to make my way to Jean’s room, or maybe even Storm’s. She should have forgiven me by now; Storm wasn’t one to hold grudges.
Jean and I? We’re still good friends, even though the breakup was harsh. People change, and our hearts change along with us, but everything heals in time. I didn’t mind Jean seeing Wolverine, in fact, I wished her all the best.
She’ll need it, dating an arse like him.
I opened my door, and walked further down my wing. I love this floor. Only senior students were placed here, so the floor had a certain air of exclusiveness that the other floors didn’t have. It also didn’t hurt that the hall we have is one of the most beautiful ones in this entire Institution, and our bedrooms, far larger than the kids downstairs have.
Ah well, with age comes great privileges, I thought to myself.
Suddenly, I heard my name, and felt a tug on my jacket. Rats! Its her! I’d forgotten all about her! How the heck did she get up here? Where was Wolverine? Wasn’t he the babysitter?
Realizing that there was no escape this time, I exhaled loudly, annoyed by the change of plans, and turned to face the kid for the first time.
And lost all train of thought.
Alexandria was… beautiful.
She was dressed in the same jeans and sneakers as yesterday, but she had traded in her thin cardigan for a much more practical long sleeve shirt. Gone too was her baseball hat, and instead, she had clipped her bangs up.
But I did not really notice all that. The only thing I was completely aware of was her face, intensely, painfully beautiful.
Her dark auburn hair was windblown, but fell perfectly just below her shoulders. Her eyes, the darkest shade of brown, were perfectly framed with long eyelashes. Her eyebrows had been plucked and they accentuated her slightly upturned eyes. Even then, though, I could see the pain behind them. She was pale, and her lips, which were dark in color, were parted slightly and contrasted wonderfully with her skin.
Her face wasn’t perfect. There were, what others would have called, flaws- she didn’t have the biggest of eyes, the sharpest of nose, the pinkest of lips, the clearest of skin, but to me, she was the loveliest girl I had ever set my eyes upon.
My breath quickened suddenly.
