You found yourself falling over the edge in your own mind, tumbling into boredom and some version of despair.Your normally soft hands, so used to helping Caitlyn handle the most delicate of tasks in her lab, now rough and cracking from handling machinery and metals all day.
Cisco claimed he needed help. That your smaller more nimble hands could work better at fastening wiring kits, or keen eye would be useful in putting together his contraption.
You think though, after hours of rummaging through pieces of what you can only call junk, Cisco could be trying to distract you.
Hours of listening to him talk, all possibly because Team Flash just couldn't take another minute of you and Harry arguing.
Harrison had been upset with you ever since arriving back from Earth-2. He blamed you, without much reason for having been kicked out of his daughter's round-up gang.
He never approved of you dating his daughter, which only worsened after she became a speedster. He didnt trust you could ever protect her, despite having gambled your life on more than one occasion to help or even save her.
"Okay, this actually isn't looking half bad." Cisco smirked as he congratulated himself over your shoulder. "So, (Y/n), if you could-"
The sound of his voice became distant and unimportant as you began to turn around.
You could feel the rush of static course throughout the environment, causing the hair on your neck to stand up. In the moment, the air in the room was thick, your body felt heavy as a subtle breeze tickled your skin.
Time slowed for less than even a second as your mind raced with familiar sensation. Electricity.
The breeze was sudden, then strong, papers flew about the speed lab, a flash of light being the culprit.
"Hand me a screw driver." Ciscos voice vaguely registered in your mind, the meaning to his words completely lost upon you.
Your fingers dart to your lips feeling the ghost of a kiss, cheeks tightening in a smile as you spin around, nearly falling in your haste.
Open arms catch you, welcome you, firm but gentle as they hold you up.
Laughter causes the flutter of your heart to increase. Sometimes you wonder if it's more than just butterflies, perhaps it's your heart trying to beat as fast as hers.
"Careful." She warns.
Her voice is light as if it could break you. Her eyes warm, causing you to melt into her embrace as she pulls you closer to her chest.
"Can't have you falling down on my watch." You could hear the smile in her voice, though your head was burried in her shoulder.
"Jesse.." You sigh happily, her name falling from your lips like the tune of your favorite song.
"Oh.. Hey." Cisco says somewhat awkwardly as he notices the new company.
"Hey, Cisco.. Is my dad around?"
"Cortex!" He answered cheekily as he got back to his work.
"Thanks!"
"I thought it was my turn to come see you?" You ask, releasing each other from an over-due hug. "Did I miss our date?"
"No, no! Everything is okay." She smiled, absolutely filling your heart with joy. "I just wanted to see you."
"Jesse Quick." You smirk, glancing over her beautiful features. "I missed you."
