(Last chapter!! Epilogue to follow!)
Sherlock didn't move, even when Lestrade tried to pull him back. "Ambulance is on its way, Sherlock. There's nothing you can do now." Sherlock shook his head, crying now, "No, I'm staying with him." Lestrade squatted next to him and rubbed his back, Sherlock struggling not to cry, until the ambulance pulled up.
(John's POV)
Why did it get so dark? John opened his eyes, the noise and faint lights of the park were gone. He was in a hospital room. What? Looking around, John saw Sherlock asleep in the armchair beside his bed. The sky outside was dark; the clock said 12:35. With a last glance at the slumbering figure beside him, John sank back onto his pillows and immediately fell asleep again.
When he woke, he could hear two voices in the room, possibly why he awoke. He recognized one as Sherlock, snapping, "I'm perfectly fine, Lestrade. I'm not a child, I can take care of myself."
Lestrade responded, "Jesus, Sherlock, just eat at some point will you? I have to go." John opened his eyes as the door closed behind Lestrade. "John!" Sherlock hurried over to him, "How are you feeling?" He hesitated, then took John's hand. John smiled at him. In truth, his injury hurt a bit but it could've been worse. He opened his mouth to say, "I'm fine" but instead starting coughing, and woah, that's pain. Sherlock handed him a glass of water and when he'd gulped down enough to get words out through the hacking, he choked out, "God, I love you." Sherlock beamed at him and said, "I love you, too."
