The boarding started, and soon enough, we were in the plane. Chris helped me with some of my hand luggage, being the gentleman that he is, and soon we were in the flight.
We sat down in our seats. I checked my phone nonchalantly, but instead stumbled upon the following messages:
Bryce, where are you?
Reply please!
Bryce, what the hell has gotten into you?
Can't you tell me things?
I started to weep to myself. But he noticed.
"Hey, what happened?" he asked, concerned.
"It's just.. Seth," I said, crying silently. "I don't know what's so wrong with me. I just keep crying all the time, make everyone worry and, I just don't know," I said, not audible for anyone save him.
I looked out the window. Chris then grabbed my hand, and I turned in surprise.
"Nothing's wrong with you Bryce," he finally whispered. "You are a loving and very funny person. You have a contagious laugh, you are super-sweet, and you're such a close friend of mine already. Don't give in to the negatives," he finished.
I smiled, and then he went back to his own stuff. But I felt different. His words had a charming effect on me. He was so caring, that with me, I had started feeling warmer than I had ever felt.
The flight took off. It was a nearly 5-hour long flight, and soon, I feel asleep. But when I woke up, just 45 minutes into the flight, I found myself leaning on Chris's shoulder. He was sleeping with his back straight, and here I was, making his shoulder my personal pillow in the flight.
(Something similar happened in that dream of mine about the shooting for Fallen Kingdom).
I gently woke up, and saw that Chris didn't. I just looked out the window, and it was a mere 15 minutes later, when I was on my phone, so moved by Chris's words that I didn't care about Seth's messages, when he woke up.
"Hey.. did I fall asleep?" he asked in a heavy, sleepy tone. "Oh yeah. I was. Atleast that's what my tone tells me you know."
He is so funny. We had a laugh over it.
"You fine?" he asked, in a strained voice (mainly because he was stretching. Sort of).
"Yeah," I replied. "Thanks to you."
He smiled. But that's when a strange feeling filled our air.
Our eyes were locked onto each other's. We just gazed, and then, God knows what happened, but then, the gap between us started to shrink.
That's when our lips met. My hand fell on his face, and his on mine.
We pulled back, his eyes closed. We were regretting that already.
"Chris I'm sorry," I said, my voice broken.
"I.." he started, but couldn't proceed.
We just looked at each other, and then..
And I woke up.
"Hey.." Chris asked, "you fine?"
I realised that the whole thing was just a dream. My head was rested against my seat, not on his shoulders. And we hadn't kissed.
"Oh, yeah, yeah," I said. "Absolutely."
He was convinced, and soon we shifted to chatting about matters. As I looked out the window, I let out a sigh.
Thank God it wasn't true. And I couldn't let it turn into reality.
But for how long?
