At around 7, Seth and the kids arrived. I smiled on their arrival. I greeted them, and Seth kissed me on the cheek.

"Went well?" he asked eagerly.

"Yeah," I said. I sounded tired, and Seth noticed.

"You okay?" he asked with concern.

"Yeah, yeah.. just a little tired," I said.

"Don't worry. Even I'm quite tired as well," he said, and he did. His eyes showed that, and I smiled back.

"Well, I'm sure you'll be refreshed after the fun at the party tomorrow."

"Which party?"

He didn't know?!

"The Golden Globes party!" I said, thinking that he had forgotten.

"Oh.. sorry, I was going out with some friends.. I had completely forgotten.." he said. I couldn't believe my ears.

"You were what?! Seth, don't tell me you're serious. How could you.." I exclaimed, but couldn't say anything else.

"Bryce, I'm sorry.. I will come to the next one.. promise," he said. The next one? That was a year away.

"So I have to wait for one damn year before you go with me?"

Seth was unable to say anything. I just left the scene.

Soon, night fell, but I felt horrible over what happened. This was not good.

--

The next day, Seth left after we had some small talk. No good mornings, no goodbyes. I felt miserable.

Nonetheless, I went about my day when I received a call at around 12.

"Hello?" I asked, curious since there was no name.

"Hello Bryce, this is Colin," the voice said.

"Oh yes," I said, suddenly quite alert. I was anxious.

"Well, I'm happy to say that we would love to have you in the film as Claire Dearing the aunt. We'll soon have the rest of the cast as well."

I was on cloud nine.

"T-Thank you, when do we start?" I asked, stammering before putting myself together.

"This Friday, we'll have the script reading," he informed, "though we're still trying for Chris Pratt to be cast in the film."

I thought that my heart had a tiny flutter when I heard that name.

"Alright, so Friday, right? That's good. I'll be there."

"Okay, bye Bryce."

"Bye Colin," I replied, and put down the phone.

My heart was bursting with excitement. After the scene last night, this was exactly what I needed.

I rang up my dad.

"Hello?" he answered.

"Hey dad, I have great news."

"What?"

"Well, remember Colin Trevorrow, director of Jurassic World?"

"Yeah?"

"I got cast in the lead role."

There was silence.

"Dad?"

"Sweetheart, CONGRATULATIONS!" He screamed with delight. I was surprised, but happy.

"Dad, when are you going for the Golden Globes party?"

"At 4. You can call it the party sweetheart. You don't have to mention the whole name, you know?"

If there was ever a time of contrasting situations, this was the weirdest. My husband forgot, and my dad didn't even need the name. Contrast.

"Yeah dad. Actually, Seth couldn't come for some reason, so can you pick me up?"

"Definitely."

"Okay, I just have some work to do right now. Will call you later?"

"Okay sweetheart, see you at 4. Bye!"

"Bye dad."

I soon got ready for the party. Dad came at 4, and we reached the party at around 5:30. I still wished Seth was here, but my mind felt horrible just thinking about how he had forgotten.

I was just walking and thinking about this when I accidentally bumped into someone.

"Oh I'm so sorry, that was my fault," I said.

The man in front said, "Not at all, my fault. I should be the one apologising."

I identified him immediately. Those blue eyes.

He was Chris Pratt.
