It's All Changed

Volume 3 Ep. 4 - Doubles

"The randomization process is complete! Ladies and gentlemen, your doubles tournament line-up!" Professor Port announces to the crowd. I looked up at the holographic screen. 'Emerald and Mercury vs Coco and Yatsuhashi... this should be something...' I told myself.

"Wooo!!!" Yang and Ruby cheered. The two doubles team walk up on the platform as the holographic roulette began. "Emerald and Mercury of Haven, versus Coco and Yatsuhashi of Beacon!" Professor Port announces. "Good luck, you two!" Velvet cheered.

Alternately, the four sectors were chosen. A patch of tall grassy plains which has a single tree and some rocks; the ruins of a city, complete with buildings holding shattered windows and rubble among the pavement; a hot spring containing geyser spots along a small river and some blue Dust crystals growths; and a familiar section of dense forest.

"Hey! Love the outfit, kid!" Coco complimented Emerald. "I'll try not to get blood on it." Emerald responds. "I can't promise you'll leave without a scratch." Yatsuhashi claims as he stands up and equips his sword. "I won't be the one bleeding." Emerald lets out as she stretches.

"Ooh, I like her!" Coco tells her teammate. "Three, two, one, begin!" Professor Port counts. Instead of charging, both Mercury and Emerald step back into the tall grassy plains. Immediately, Coco equips her machine gun and starts shooting mercilessly at the plains.

She sprays over the plains and starts to mow down the field. "Huh?" Coco lets out confused. '!!!' "Look out!" Both Blake and I warned Coco and Yatsuhashi. Mercury drops in from the sky aiming for Coco. But Yatsuhashi pushes her out of the wall and blocks the surprise attack.

Yatsuhashi pushes him back and Mercury lands. Coco starts shooting at Mercury as the silver-haired boy easily outruns her bullets. then, Mercury single-handedly takes care of Yatsuhashi and Coco. I then realized something. 'Where's Emerald?' I queried as Mercury continues to fight Coco and Yatsuhashi.

Mercury steps back and starts shooting the area around him with his boots creating a barrier around him. He kicks two of it towards Coco and Yatsuhashi. Suddenly, Coco was grappled into the forest. "Coco!" Yatsuhashi calls for his leader.

Mercury quickly kicks him to get his attention away from the girls. Using brute force, Yatsuhashi grabs Mercury's collar and throws him into the geyser, hot spring sector.

Yatsuhashi jumps in and brings his sword down. Mercury catches his blade with his boots as it creates a blast around them. The blast was strong enough to rid of all water sources and make the geysers erupt with hot steam. Mercury and Yatsuhashi continue their battle.

Mercury saw an opening and kicks Yatsuhashi into an open geyser. Yatsuhashi was too stunned to gather his sense. It was too late before it erupted in his face. "Aaahhh!!!" He yelps as his aura depleted into the red zone.

I heard gunshots in the forest as I try to look for Coco and Emerald. "I can't see them..." I grumbled. "Oh, and with that final blow, Yatsuhasi is eliminated!" Professor Port announces.

BANG

Coco flies out of the forest and lands next to Yatsuhashi knocked out together with him. The crowd cheers. "And with an amazing upset, Emerald and Mercury are victorious!" Dr. Oobleck announces. The crowd is now mixed with cheers and boos.

"Coco?" Velvet shakily lets out. Fox comforts Velvet as I look back at the field. '!!!'

I stand and look back at my seat as I saw a figure walk away from her seat. 'Isn't that Mercury's and Emerald's teammate?' I queried to myself. "Hey," Blake calls for me. I look back at her. "You okay?" She asks me with a worried tone. I smiled at her and nodded.

"Okay as I'll ever be." I responded as I sat back down. 'Ozpin said something about you knowing when danger is near...' Glynda's voice plays in my head. 'Something big will happen inevitably, Y/N...' Father's voice follows. I scrunched my brows in confusion.

The Next Day>>>

"And now for the next match!" Professor Port announces as the new match-up appears on the holographic screen. "The randomization is complete! Ladies and gentlemen! Russel Thrush and Sky Lark of Beacon, versus Penny Polendina and Ciel Soleil of Atlas!" Professor Port announces.

Both teams walk up on the field as the holographic roulette starts again. I suddenly remember the time at the shipyard when Penny first appeared. "Oh, they're done..." I muttered to myself as I watched the randomized sectors break the surface.

"Three, two, one, begin!" Professor Port counted as both teams engaged in battle. Penny and Ciel resort to immediate explosions pushing Russel and Sky to defense. Penny brings out her weapons. She uses half of her sword count to try and catch Russel.

Russel was fast enough to hide behind a boulder. Penny uses the remainder of her swords and does the same for Sky. Penny looks back at Ciel with a smile. Ciel shakes her head and points at her wristwatch. Penny nods and uses her sword to lift both boulders up.

Russel and Sky grasps onto the boulder in a panic state. Penny smirks and brings the boulders down, crushing the doubles team of Team CRDL. The buzzer sounds and Penny's sword comes back and enters into her pack.

"And victory goes to Penny and Ciel of Atlas!" Dr. Oobleck announces to the crowd. Penny respectfully bows at her fallen opponents. "Thank you for a wonderful time." Penny tells her opponents and leaves the field. The crowd cheers. At the same time, Ruby runs out of her seat to go congratulate Penny and Ciel.

"Our next match will begin in 15 minutes!" Professor Port announces. I look over at Weiss and Yang. "Good luck out there, eh?" I tell them with a thumbs up. "We'll do our best and bash their heads!" Yang shouts. "We'll represent Team RWBY the best way we can." Weiss adds.

"Yeah, I know you guys can do anything when you put your minds to it."
