Prologue

I ran down the hallway as fast as my legs would go. I pushed them past the point to where they were cramping. Out of breath, I hoped I had gotten far away enough so that he couldn't see me hide. I turned a corner and hid in a tight, cramped closet. I covered my mouth with my hand to quiet my breathing. As my breathing slowed, I listened for sounds outside. After no sounds, I chanced a peek outside the door. The door didn't squeak as I opened and for that I was grateful. As I looked out I saw nothing. The hallway was dimly lit with concrete walls, floors and ceilings. I pushed myself out the door and rounded the corner, but collided into a broad chest covered in cotton fabric.
