Subtle differences (Embry Call)

Chapter 45

After hearing Embry's remark about the imprint, Seth snapped out of his daze his cheeks were bright red as were his ears. Embry gave him a playful shove to show him that he wasn't mad at Seth or anything like that. You can't choose who you imprint on, but now everyone in the pack has one and I can't wait to tell the boys about Seth finally doing it.

Carlisle came into the room not long after and gave us the clear to take the babies home, he had gotten permission from Sam to come onto the reservation twice a week to check up on things. So with the help of Em and Zander, I was helped up. Embry picked me up bridal style while Seth held Emileah and Jake took Cameron.

We all made our way outside and over to my truck with Aquaria following behind us. I was boosted into the cab while Embry got in the driver's side. Everyone else got in Jake's car after Zander created some car seats for the twins, with that all done we drove back to my house as it was getting late.

Once back home Jake, Seth and Aquaria bid us goodbye as we made our way inside. Embry and I made sure the twins were all settled in before setting up the baby monitor and settled down for some sleep. I set an alarm to go off every two to three hours so I could check up on my babies then laid down and snuggled into Embry's arms and drifted off to sleep. Knowing tomorrow was going to be a very busy day.

The next morning I woke up fully refreshed and ready for the day. Embry said that he'd tend to the twins throughout the night so that I could get some well deserved rest. Thankfully I had pumped some milk before going to sleep.

After getting up and dressing, I made my way to the twins room to find the cutest sight ever. Embry was asleep in the rocking chair with the twins snuggled into each shoulder, his arms wrapped securely around them. Seeing them like that caused a surge of joy through my body as I began smiling.

Deciding to let them sleep, I went downstairs and began making breakfast. It felt nice to be able to cook again now that the swelling in my feet had gone down. Although I do kind of miss the baby bump, I've spent so long with it that it's weird looking down at my stomach and seeing how small it is. Thankfully witches body's still act like regular women's bodies when they get pregnant so I'll still experience postpartum normally despite my super metabolism.

I was just about to flip a pancake when a pair of arms snaked around me waist and a head pressed into my shoulder. Embry placed a peck on the bare skin of my neck as I flipped the pancake.

"Hey love where's the twins?" I asked finishing up the food and turning off the stove.

"With your brother he wanted to get them ready for the day," he says helping me to prepare the plates and setting the table. I found it sweet that Zander wanted to get the twins ready for the day, he's always been so down to earth and the best brother ever.

"He'll make a great dad one day," I replied as he came into the kitchen with the twins. They had cute onesies on that said "Mommy and Daddy's angels" which was adorable. Zander walked over to the fridge and grabbed their bottles, he used magic to warm them up so they weren't too cold for the twins.

"I'll feed them while you guys eat," he says sitting down. He handed Cameron over to Embry to hold while he began feeding Emileah. After a few minutes he burped her and continued the process until the bottle was empty, then traded Embry for Cameron. He repeated everything until Cameron was done eating.

"You don't have to do all this for us Zander. I greatly appreciate it but you don't have to do it," I state after finishing my food and my brother just smiles.

"Nonsense Nye. You have carried these two around for nine months, the least I could do is help you and Embry with them. Besides you need some rest, it's been crazy these last few days," he reassures rocking Cameron back and forth.

His reply causes me to smile and I couldn't have asked for a better brother. If this is how Zander is acting toward the twins, then I can't wait to see how the rest of the pack acts upon seeing them for the first time, well besides Jake and Seth. I know for a fact that Jared will probably go all pack mom on them and Quil will teach them how to cause trouble. We'll see how things play out when we get to Emily's........
