"I'VE TRIED TO SAY, BABE, I'M GONNA RUIN YOU IF YOU LET ME STAY"

I brushed through my hair in the review mirror, ensuring I didn't forget any trace of dye from before. I can't raise any suspicion, not when I don't know how many eyes are on us.

We need to keep up appearances as we try to handle Charles Du Mall.

Grabbing my bag from the backseat, I make my way into the Firehouse.

Flashing smiles to all the others before going into the locker room to get changed into my uniform before walking towards the living area, cutting through the bunk room.

"Liv" Kelly calls me into his office, "I literally just walked in, what have I done now?" I joke, "nothing yet" he gestures for me to come in, closing the door behind me.

"I just wanted to see if you were feeling any better?" It takes a few seconds for it to click that I had lied about being ill so I could miss the last shift. "Yeah, just a stomach bug" why is that my go-to lie?

"You good to be back on shift?" He asks, "yeah, I'm great" I nod, "so are we done?" I go to leave.

"Not yet" he stops me, "Cruz was worried about Jess not answering his calls so we took a trip to your house" he starts to explain. "Your neighbour told us that you packed up and hadn't been back in days" now this I was not prepared for.

Think Olivia! Think!

"Is there a question following that?" I hope he backs down, "I just want to know where you are" he doesn't. "What happened to giving me space?" I bring up, "I am giving you space" he defends, "but I care about you and I want to know you're safe" he adds.

"We missed Ryan so we have been staying with him while Tim is out of town" I make up, "you know, to keep him company" I shrug.

"Okay" he steps back, "as long as you're safe" he continues.

"Thanks for your concern but I can handle myself" I assure him.

"TRUCK 81, SQUAD 3, AMBULANCE 61! WOMAN CAUGHT IN MACHINE!" The siren saves me from him grilling me further.

"Guess we got to go" I start rushing off, not wanting to continue this conversation. Getting to the rig, gearing up quicker so I don't give him a chance to talk to me.

"The second you don't feel so great" Kelly stops me from jumping into the rig, "you tell me" he orders. "Copy that Lieutenant" I free myself as I jump into the rig, a sad Kelly jumping in after.

"First shift back in a while Lewis" Cruz comments, "it's been 2 shifts Cruz" I reply, "yeah the best 2 shifts of my life" Capp teases as I kick his shin. "See this is why I didn't miss you" he reaches down to rub his shin.

"Is Jess okay?" Cruz asks, out of the blue.

"Why?" I question, "just asking" he shrugs, "she's great" I answer.

"Are you okay?" What is with these questions? Do they know?

"What is this about Cruz?" I try to hide my anxiety, "it's just I have been asking Jess to move in with me for months and she keeps saying no" he sighs.

I know exactly why but I can't tell him.

"She said the reason why she can't at the moment is that she needs to look after you" he continues. "Well yeah, I do need her at the moment" I play along, "been going through a lot if you haven't noticed" I add, Kelly, starting to listen in, thinking I am referring to him.

He nods, the rig going silent as no one knows how to continue the conversation.

Pulling up to the scene, ready to do some firefighting. Doing something good instead of bad for a change.
