"I WAS DANCING WITH THE DEVIL, OUT OF CONTROL, ALMOST MADE IT TO HEAVEN. IT WAS CLOSER THAN YOU KNOW"
Severide's P.O.V:
"What's the name?" Justine asks, "Olivia Lewis" I answer as she inputs her name into her computer. "Okay" she finds her name, "it says here they only admitted her 2 weeks ago" she points out.
"Yes, that's correct" I nod.
"Well I'm sorry but patients aren't allowed visitors in the first month of treatment" she tells me, "come on Justine" Cruz chimes in, having known Justine from when they went to school together.
"He's a friend of mine, can't you make an exception?" He requests on my behalf.
"I don't know" she is reluctant, "please Justine, do it for me" he begs, "your little Joey" he tries to act cute. "Little Joey?" I bite back a chuckle, "you want to get in or not?" He glares and I step back, letting him do his thing to get me in.
"Fine" she agrees, "I can get you 5 minutes" she offers.
I would have wanted to stay for longer but 5 minutes is better than nothing.
"Thank you" I accept, patting Cruz's shoulder as she leads me through the facility and towards Olivia's room. The closer we get, the more I hear her screams and crying, remembering Jess' words about how this was going to be absolute hell.
"5 minutes" she reminds me as she opens the door and lets me through.
My worst imagination is no match to what is in front of me.
She's thrashing around, shaking uncontrollably as she shrieks and cries, rocking back and forth trying to find some comfort. A throw-up bucket at the end of the bed as she grips onto her abdomen.
She's completely drenched in sweat, no colour in her face and her lips are cracked.
She is so distracted by the pain that she can't even open her eyes, completely unaware of my presence in the room.
"Ahh!" She shoots up, throwing up into the bucket before she falls back, with no strength in her body.
I walk over, grabbing a tissue from the table next to her bed. Moving to her slowly so she doesn't feel alarmed, sitting down at the edge of her bed. Reaching forward carefully to wipe around her mouth.
She looks up, her eyes bloodshot red.
Still shivering so I go to cover her with a blanket but she pushes it off, shifting around in the bed, not in one position for more than a second. Digging her nails into her abdomen as she jerks around.
I don't know what to do to help her.
"It's going to be okay" I try to soothe her, "you are going to get through this" laying my hand delicately on her arm.
She's burning up yet shivering, how does that even work?
"It's hard to see, isn't it?" I turn to see one of the nurses standing by the door, watching my movements.
"You have no idea" I agree, "she's not supposed to have visitors" she doesn't say it in a cruel way, more of a compassionate way. "I know but I just needed to see her" I admit, "boyfriend?" She questions.
