Chapter 19: The Chase

AHSOKA TANO

Ahsoka ran after the bounty hunter, jumping over rooftops while Cad Bane fired his pistols at her.

"I didn't like being a sniper anyways," remarked Bane.

Suddenly, Bane started to run towards Ahsoka, as opposed to away from her. He used his rocket boots to propel himself over and tried to kick Ahsoka in the face. Ahsoka ducked, and the bounty hunter flew right over her. He shot at Ahsoka, but she deflected his blaster bolts with her two lightsabers. Ahsoka began to make her way towards Bane and tried to cut one of his blasters in half, but he dodged her attack.

"Dooku really wanted you and that senator dead. Said you owed him a planet."

"So Dooku put you up to this?"

"Why wouldn't he? You did take Onderon from him."

Ahsoka wondered why Dooku would hire Bane, of all people, to snipe out Lux. He could have hired any old sniper. But Bane wasn't known for being a sniper. He was known for being able to fight Jedi, and sometimes even win.

Dooku knew I would be here, thought Ahsoka. It was strange, considering her extended assignment on Onderon had not been released publicly. There's something more to this than assassinating a senator.

Bane kicked over Ahsoka mid thought, but Ahsoka sprung right back to her feet.

"Why did you try to kill Lux?"

"Dooku offered me a hefty sum I couldn't resist."

"Why did Dooku send you?! He could have sent a regular sniper, not a Jedi hunter! He knew I would be here, when nobody else did!"

"Listen, not even I fully understand him. Probably some weird Sith trickery. But I don't ca-"

Bane stopped mid sentence, finding himself unable to breathe.

Ahsoka began to get consumed by her emotions. A million thoughts ran through her head at once. He tried to kill Lux, she thought, he and Dooku will pay!

Bane grasped his neck as Ahsoka began holding up a force-chokehold on him. Bane started levitating above the ground.

He deserves this!

Ahsoka shed a tear. She had no idea what she was doing, where these emotions were coming from.

Finally, Ahsoka broke free of whatever she was experiencing.

What? NO! WHAT AM I DOING!?!? LET HIM GO!!!

Ahsoka threw Bane to the ground, rendering him unconscious. She fell to the ground. After she recollected herself, she realized what had happened.

Her feelings had allowed her to briefly be consumed by the dark side.

What have I done!?!?
