When I was sick, I rarely got to leave my house. I ended up finding solace, and a friend, in the moon and stars in the night sky. I played for them and pretended that they would dance to the music. Being in Seoul for almost two months made me feel incredibly lonely. The light pollution makes it where I can only see the moon on most nights, but when we pulled into the Han River's parking lot, I saw a few twinkling stars through the night. It was like they were fighting to be seen. They wanted to grace people with their beautiful presence. They wanted to shine for Bun and me.
We ended up walking around, and I admired how many people were still out. Small groups were scattered about, and some were sitting near tents set up in the grass. The bridge and the city twinkled in the distance. I sat down on a patch of grass away from all the groups of people.
"What do you think?" Bun asked as he sat next to me.
"It's beautiful. I've never seen or felt an atmosphere like this."
"It's pretty great, huh? I like to come here late at night when I have too much on my mind."
I lay back and decide to look at the sky, happy that I get to see the stars, "I'm happy that I can see the stars."
"It's honestly rare. Usually, you can never see stars here."
"I think that's what I miss from home the most. Living in the middle of nowhere, the stars just seem to dance for you. They make you feel less lonely at night," I said reaching up to the sky.
I watch as Jungkook reaches out and grabs my hand in the air. He slowly entangles his fingers with mine and brings it down to his face, and he kisses my hand slowly. I feel my heart start pounding like earlier, and I look over at him. He starts kissing each of my fingertips and then my wrist that has the brace on it.
"I'm sorry that this happened to you," he said, dropping both our hands to the ground but not letting go.
"It's okay, Bun."
He sighs and closes his eyes. I allow myself to look at his side profile. His nose protruding out just enough and the slope even and smooth. His lips were pink and smooth, and the scar on his cheek glinted in the moonlight, and of course, his jawline looked like it could cut through the sky.
"Penny for your thoughts?" I asked softly.
He turns his head and opens his eyes. They glittered with tears.
"Jungkook, what's wrong?"
"I'm just," he sighs, "I'm so happy. I'm happy you're here, and I'm happy that my hyungs like you. But I hate that you're hurting. I hate that I can't help you get around the city or walk you to your class. I hate that I won't have a ton of time with you. I want to spend all my time with you."
"BunBun, we have four years, at least, together. I may even get my masters here if everything goes well."
"I know, I know. But I just... I feel like you're going to disappear. Slip right out of my fingers like sand."
