I came to know about something quite fascinating about manusmriti. It's called niyog. People think that it's a tradition and needs to be done compulsorily but that's not true. It's just a consensual agreement when if a husband is infertile or dead, the wife can take the help of another husband to help her bear a child. In this case, we see this happening in two places. Rishi Ved Vyas helped giving birth to Pandu, Dhirtarashtra and Vidur. Yam, Pavandev, Indra helped Kunti in bearing Yudhisthir, Bheem and Arjun and the Ashwin Kumar helped Madri in giving birth to Nakul and Sahdev.
It's great to see how open minded people of earlier times were. Maybe they had sperm donations too or maybe they had to have sex physically. I don't know but this is something quite progressive for people of such ancient times. I mean, Ramayan happened around ten lakh years ago and when Ram had killed Bali, he had said that he had to kill Bali because Bali had raped Sugreev's wife and Ram was bound by manusmriti, the eternal constitution, meaning it came down along with the Vedas and is at least that old. It was the foundation of the Ram rajya, of a rajya where if one woman is disrespected, the entire nation fights for her. Salute to such a great constitution and it's sad how it's been manipulated by the Muslim rulers in India such that it contains verses which prohibit us from eating meat and yet another where it says it's okay to eat meat.
Anyways, you will find the actual copy of manusmriti from the Arya samaj. You can visit vedpress.com and get any scripture or book that you want. I didn't get money to advertise this but very few people know Sanskrit and it's important that the verses get passed on without getting mistranslated. So, if you want to read the Vedas, manusmriti, the true Mahabharat, Ramayan or anything, visit that site and you will get your books neatly wrapped up and ready to be read.
Anyways, I just wanted to tell about this arrangement here. As to about how rain or death had sperm, I seriously don't know but they are considered as people who regulate these natural forces. The Indra of the next manvantar is going to be Bali. If you want to know who Bali was, read the chapter of the Vaman avatar and you will know it. Also, I came to know about one more thing. How can a rishi give birth to gods as well as demons?
I came to know that demons are not species but people who use their power to hurt people around them. Terrorists today are demons of today. The same goes for everyone. Everyone has a demon inside them. It's important that we control them and become Dev, just like Bali is going to become one. Part of the upbringing is controlled by the parents. As a sage, I don't think rishi Kashyap would be able to give that much time to his children. No wonder the children of Aditi and Diti were complete opposite of each other. After all, everything depended on them. One's children followed dharm such that after they got moksh, they became gods and the other's children followed dharm till they got spiritual power and then they took advantage of that power. If you read the chapters of the avatars, you will also understand about the qualities of these early women. Understand that rishi Kashyap was among the saptarishis. So, these were among the first humans on earth back then and that's why they got to be gods so soon. However, Bali was born in Tretayug, meaning he will be the next Indra.
Most of the people think that Indra was lustful and cruel but it's not true. These are just the short stories that we made. Some stories have deeper meaning while some stories were made just to disrespect our demigods.
Indra is a person of great respect and we need to show that respect, irrespective of the fake stories that keep making rounds. They will just become worse.
About Ahalya, let's think about it. Ahalya means a land that can't be ploughed, hal means a plough. Gautam means a bull and Indra means rain. So, if there is an unploughable land or dry land, no bull will help you. You will have to sit and wait for God Indra to help you. That's like a message behind this story. I don't know why it was added to Ramayan but it was indeed fake and not present in the original Ramayan. I just thought of sharing this short story with you.
