Chapter 1 - It's A New Year! (Part 1)

Catrion's POV:

*BEEP! BEEP! BEEP!*

I open my eyes to another day of September in California. But today? Today wasn't just any day, it was the first day of the school year! I pull on a white short sleeve and red shorts, and grab my favorite red bandanna and pull it around my neck before heading out of bedroom to wake my sister.

Me and my older sister, Phoenix, live with our moms in Crimson Valley. Our family may seem very easy and uncomplicated, but it is quite the opposite. Our mother, Raksha Viper, actually had a kid with our step-mom Glimmer Moon, and our mom, Catra Viper, had a kid with Glimmer's wife, Adora Moon. So we have two half-sisters, Nikala, mother's kid, and Cora, mom's kid. Not to mention our step-siblings, Serenity and Pyrite, who are obviously Glimmer and Adora's kids. Think that's crazy? Well Glimmer also had a kid with her childhood best friend, Bow, who is married with a kid to Perfuma, who also loves this really sweet woman named Scorpia. Oh, and Perfuma, Scorpia and Bow are my school's, Etheria High's, counselors -- Mrs. Plume, Ms. Ruby, and Mr. Arrow.

And guess what else? Nothing, I was just teasing you. I'm hilarious, aren't I!

I open my sister's bedroom door to see her buried in her covers, facing the wall. She's never been a morning person, and even though I'm the younger one, I've always woke her up, being a morning person like my mother. Well, at least mother was a morning person before she got pregnant with Phoenix.

"Gooooood moooooorningggggg!!" I say cheerfully as I enter her room.

Phoenix huffs grumpily, and I go over and sit at the foot of her bed. If she's in a good mood, she'll kick me off, and if she's in a bad one... well, the best option is her throwing a pillow at me.

Next thing I know, I'm on the floor, and my sister is absolutely laughing her head off. I smirk at this, having hoped she'd be in a good mood, and begin to tickle her.

"No! Catrion --AHAHAHA--Stop it! Ah!!" she yelps between her outbursts of laughter.

I back off, but just as I go to get up, she pulls me back and begins to tickle me back.

Suddenly a large thump sounds from the neighboring room, and mother comes barreling out, still in a t-shirt and boxers, with a dagger in her hand.

"WHAT'S GOING ON ARE WE BEING ATTACKED I HAVE A DAGGER CRIMINAL!!!" she yells, and I see mom tap her on the shoulder and drag her back into their room.

Me and Phoenix exchange glances before busting up laughing at our mother's actions.

"Alright, now let me get ready you big log!" my sister teases, pushing me off of her.

I chuckle as I head downstairs. I grab some cereal and open my phone to text my best friend, and adopted cousin, Coyote. 

CrimsonKitty: Good morning Coy! How did you sleep?

A few moments pass by before my phone buzzes with his text-tone.

CinnabunCub: Good morning! I slept well actually. Noble and Sunset are arguing over the Cinnamon Toast Crunch (TM) again... 

CinnabunCub: How did YOU sleep though?

CrimsonKitty: Pretty good! Phoenix was in a good mood this morning. We even had a tickle fight! Then mother came in was all like "I HAVE A DAGGER CRIMINAL YOU DONT WANT TO MESS WITH MEEEEE!!" It was so funny! Mom had to drag her back into the room cuz she was still in boxers and a t-shirt! 😂😂😂

CinnabunCub: 😂😂😂 That's hilarious! I should go pack my stuff for school though... see you there I guess?

CrimsonKitty: Of course! I'm going to love having you in the same school as me 😉😘

CinnabunCub: me too 😘❤

I hear Phoenix come down the stairs as I put my bowl in the sink, and suddenly she busts up laughing. I turn around, amused and concerned at the same time, knowing she rarely ever busts up laughing out of nowhere. She sees me looking at her and blushes, which only makes me even more curious.

"Who was that?" I ask slyly, giving her a knowing look, having already guessed who it is.

"Um nobody..." she mumbles in response, and I chuckle.

"Well tell nobody to say hi to Timber for me." I say, and her face practically turns into a tomato.

"Fine, it's Abigail." she mutters, going back to her phone. 

Abigail has been friends with my sister since they were born, and they just started dating Freshman year. Me and Abigail's brother, Timber, are pretty good friends, but we don't talk that often.

"Abigail says 'don't you have his number or something?'" Phoenix interrupts my thoughts.

"Yeah but I'm busy getting you some cereal, so your welcome." I answer, handing her a bowl of cereal and a spoon.

"Oh, yeah, thanks." She responds.

"Catrion! Phoenix! Your bus is almost here, start packing your stuff!" I hear mother call to us from upstairs, and not even a minute later her and mom come downstairs to say bye.

"Bye mom, bye mother. See you after school." I say to them, heading out the door with Phoenix at my heels.

I can't wait for my first day as a sophomore in High School!

I figured instead of giving y'all a huge chapter, i'd give you guys a good taste of what this book is gonna be about. I have a feeling all you she-ra and TUC fans out there are gonna like this book a lot... and I hope you do! Have fun and stay safe!
