"Do I have to?" Alice whined.

Nya sighed at the question.

"For the millionth time, yes," she answered, tying the girdle tightly around Alice's waist.

"Ack!" she yelped, losing her breath for a second.

"Sorry," Nya apologized.

"Do I really need this?" Alice gestured to the girdle. She felt like she couldn't breathe.

Nya hesitated, holding the dress that she had to wear.

"No. No no no. You're not putting me in that," Alice glared daggers at the dress.

"I know you hate dresses, but you have to wear them," Nya reasoned.

"Not if I can help it," Alice ran out of the room, which was her own room.

"Jay, help me find her," Nya facepalmed, looking towards the butler.

Jay, who had been silent the whole time, nodded and followed Nya out.

"Where is she?" Cole wondered as he sat across from Kai.

Cole Brookestone is a prince from a neighboring kingdom. When he first came over and asked for Alice's hand in marriage, Kai was against it, but throughout the years, Kai and Cole have become friends, almost like brothers. Now, Kai is okay with Cole being with Alice, even if the marriage was only to ally the two kingdoms.

Cole was wearing his usual black colored prince attire with silver accents. He always tries to tame his black hair, but it never wants to cooperate with him, therefore having the look that he just dragged himself out of bed.

"She's...a bit difficult," Kai worded. Even he was wondering where she was.

A cough caught their attention, and they turned to the doorway.

Alice stood in her sleeveless, long orange dress that stopped at her feet, where she wore silver flats. Her brown hair was down and wavy, instead of in its usual ponytail, her tiara placed on her head.

She wore a smile, but if you knew her, her expression clearly said 'kill me'.

"Ah, there she is," Kai smiled, him and Cole standing from their seats.

Cole walked over to Alice.

He stopped in front of her, taking her hand, and bowing respectfully.

"How lovely it is to see you again, Princess Alice," he greeted, placing a kiss on the back of Alice's hand.

Alice wanted to be anywhere but in that room, with anyone but Cole - or Kai, for that matter - but that couldn't happen.

Kai gestured to Alice to return the greeting from where he was.

"It is quite a pleasure to see you, Prince Cole," Alice finally returned, doing a curtsey.

"Cole was just telling me about the day that he planned for you today," Kai said.

"Oh really?" Alice asked.

Cole nodded.

"Are you allowed to tell me, or is it a surprise?" Alice teased, beginning to loosen up.

"A little of both, really, but the first thing I planned was to take you on a peaceful ride," he said.

"And...I need to wear a dress for this?" Alice hissed, more towards Kai.

Kai sent her a deadpan look.

"You have to wear them in public," he replied.

Alice rolled her sky blue eyes.

"Shall we?" Cole asked, extending his arm for Alice to take.

"Uhhhhh, can I meet you outside? I need to talk to my brother," Alice pleaded.

Cole glanced back at Kai.

"It's all right, Cole. She'll be outside in a moment," Kai said.

Cole bowed politely to both Kai and Alice and left the room.

As soon as Cole was out of earshot, Alice sprinted towards Kai.

"I don't want to do this anymore, Kai!" Alice protested.

"Do what? Being a princess? Marrying Cole? Alice, you know you can't just stop doing things just because you don't like them," Kai spoke, having had this conversation with her many times before.

"But I don't love Cole! I don't like him in that way," Alice said.

"No one ever said that princes and princesses love each other when they marry," Kai sighed.

"Then what's your excuse for not finding a queen?" Alice jabbed.

"That's not the point! We're talking about you, not my love life," Kai's voice was rising.

"The nonexistent one?"

Kai growled in frustration at Alice's sass and smug look.

"Look, you have to marry Cole to ally our kingdoms. Besides, I'd rather you marry someone that we know already than an absolute stranger," Kai explained for the umpteenth time.

"But what if I want to marry a princess? Or at least be of the same sex?" Alice asked.

Kai sighed. This conversation is always the same.

"You know as well as I do that that's highly frowned upon. It can never happen," Kai said.

"Are there rules saying that?" Alice asked.

Kai raised an eyebrow in surprise. This was a new one.

"I...don't know. Why? Is there a certain princess in mind?" Kai replied.

"As soon as you find out, let me know," Alice ignored his question, leaving the room.

"Ready to go now?" Cole asked, gesturing to the horse carriage beside him.

Alice turned her head, glancing towards the room that she left. She spotted Kai staring down from the room's window.

"As ready as I'll ever be..." Alice trailed off, stepping into the carriage with Cole's help.

Cole hopped in on the other side, grabbing the horse's reigns. He flicked them lightly to get them to start moving.

"What am I going to do with her?" Kai shook his head slightly, looking at the carriage from the window.

Until next time!
