"I often wake up without actually knowing of what happened the night before, therefore the marks on my shoulders I guess, maybe they drugged me a few times... I wouldn't be the first one, believe me".
"This doesn't make any sense to me", I stood up.
"Why do you think I worked day and night?", he asked, raising his voice a little.
"I wanted to pay one of the best lawyers since I told the police that it was me and not Dennis, even though it was a lie".
"Then tell me why you hit her all the time so hard?", I asked turning around, facing him. I can't believe it.
"Like I said, I'm often there for partying, I wouldn't lay my hand on women, you can ask Derek, he often is with us, almost every time".
"And what do you think we should do now?". I gave in and let him talk, my mind was already overflowing and I didn't wanted any more subjects to focus.
He laughed out loud. "Nothing Amanda".
"We will wait, my lawyer knows the story, you can tell him your point of view, then we need to wait how it all turns out".
His eyes got tense and his features softened. "I've never done anything wrong Amanda, I just wanted to tell you this myself, but I couldn't do it that easy, I'm still wracked with guilt...", he mumbled, sitting back onto the couch.
He placed his face between his hands, his arms rested on his thighs.
Muffled sobs filled the room as I watched him breaking down.
"Then tell me why did Frank molest her as I bumped into the room six month ago?", I was already shaken and didn't wanted to hear another word but I needed prove, at least his side of the story.
"She visited me at my office, the day you came to me and I lied about spilling my coffee... and she told me to make this story public when I don't cope with her, I couldn't take the lies anymore and pleaded on her to stop, but she just shook her head and laughed at me".
He went on.
"As we went to the hotel Frank wanted to have a little fun, Derek left her 'cabin' and told me you had called him so I went in and found Frank with her", he breathed out facing hard the ground.
"He got mad and was already roughly helding her against the wall", he looked at me. "She wanted to set you a trap, digging in your doubts against me".
"And she did", I mumbled.
"So this whole story was planned by her?".
"Yes, Frank wasn't involved, he can't even remember this night... they probably mixed drugs in his drink too".
I raised my eyebrows.
"I only entered the room after Derek came out, I've never laid my hands on her".
"She was already a mess, and I strongly believe", he was now focusing hard on me, "Derek laid his hands against her".
"And your belt?", it bursted out of me. This goddamn stupid belt...
"Like I told you darling, I do not know what happened with it and it's the truth, and the truth only".
"And all this just for her siblings...", I couldn't believe it.
"Amanda, these kids are not her siblings", he stared at me.
"These are her kids, haven't you realized how young they are".
My mouth fell open, "What?".
It kind of makes sense to me, she said they'd be six years younger than her, so they must be around 10 years old.
But to me they look much younger.
"The twins and the little one, Dario or however, are her own kids".
The room went silent and we just stared at each other for a while.
I needed to ease these things down a bit.
"Isn't she only fifteen or sixteen years old?", I asked totally confused and absent already.
"She's way past this, believe me"."I had no choice, she wanted to ruin my carreer... and our relationship", he whispered after a while, glooming with his big brown eyes at me. So much sadness and anger was set in them, it hurt just by looking at him.
I kind of felt sorry for him, and for her...
"Well, one goal has been achieved ", I said and stood up.
"Goodbye Michael, thank you for taking time to speak with me".
I needed time, it was simply too much input as I felt pressure setting in, who do I trust at last?
How do I know who's lying and who's telling the truth?...
I breathed out loud, closing the door behind me.
Weeks Later
I twisted the key and opened my mailbox.
Junkmail... junkmail... junkmail, I raised my eyebrows as I held an formal envelope in my hands.
"From the court?", I mumbled, stepping inside my flat.
An official invitation from the court, saying I'm a summoned witness in Mr. Jackson's case of Valerie Deer.
I swallowed hard and openend it.
