No Excuses To Make (2)

We talked several hours about what happened and I never was so confused in my life as after this conversation.
I didn't wanted to commit myself on any story. Be it Valerie's or Michael's. But this would explain at least a little bit of all this desaster.

He told me about an accident years ago. Long time before we actually dated.
It was the time as he and the boys from the band began to become more popular. As they played gigs regulary.

"Come on let's go", Andrew waved as we finished packing the instruments.
I wasn't sure to come too, actually I promised my mother to come home right after the gig ends.
"Don't be a softy Mike, the girls are eagerly waiting for your little one", Dennis blinked at me, shooting me a slimy grin.
We already payed them a visit some time ago as we celebrated my birthday there.
It made me more fun to watch them girls than actually to sleep with them. I shortly thought about it. I don't need to get with one along, I simply can enjoy one or two drinks and then head home.
I agreed at last, having them boys laughing and shouting.
We made our way to Heartbreak Hotel as we gulped down several shots and each of us at least one or two beer on our own.
Trey let us in easily as he knew me and the boys already.

Two of them were hungrily looking for a girl to release their needs. It was indeed awkward, they behaved like dumbasses and I didn't wanted to get involved so I sat myself on one of the bar stools.
"I'll take a gin tonic, please", I smiled at the bar lady. A gin tonic was always good, not too heavy to keel over but strong enough if you're in need of some boost in confidence. Perfectly for me.
I turned around and admired the girl who worked her body on the stage, turning and flipping over, grabbing the pole in the most seductive way someone could imagine.

The time flew by and I was already very tipsy. I suddenly remembered to call at least my mother saying that it would be a little later tonight.
I stood up, walking out and called my mother.
No one answered the phone.
I tried it again and again but she refused to answer it, so I dropped a voice mail saying that I completely forgot the time and I would be right on my way home.
It was hard to focus on my words, I really was drunk and didn't wanted to let mother know it. I know how upset she can get when it comes to alcohol.
After getting back in, looking for the boys to say that I'm leaving.
I asked the bartender and she told me to look in the 'cabins' for them.
It's a seperate area for lapdances.
I stumbled along the way, at least I tried walking, or whatever I was doing to get forwards in this conditon I drank myself in.
Suddenly the police bursted in and rushed towards the cabins, shouting and pointing their guns towards the door.
One of them kicked in the door as they rushed in.
I held onto the wall watching them dragging out Dennis and one of the prostitutes, she was bleeding heavy and his whole clothes were smeared with blood too.
"Michael", Andrew rushed over to me, grabbing onto me for dear life as another police officer dragged him away.
I was so shocked that I immediately rushed out.
I threw up several times until I arrived home.

I felt so embarrased to be so light headed as I looked for my keys. What the hell was happening...
But the door wasn't locked and let itself open easily. I pushed it ajar and walked in.
"Mother?", I called, but no reaction.
I felt myself getting sick again and rushed firstly to the bathroom before I was checking where mother might was.
I rushed towards the toilet.

I noticed bloodstains on the mirror as I washed my mouth and my hands.
My eyes got wide as I followed them, leading into the living room.
Mother was lying there on the floor, senseless, not moving and barely breathing.
I stumbled towards the phone but before I could reach it I fell over a knocked over chair.
I hurt myself badly on the head and it took me a few minutes to get a clear sight again.
I immediately called the ambulance for her but it was too late.
She died a few hours later in the hospital.

"Some fucker broke into the house and robbed her, and why all this shit?", he asked me with teary eyes.
"Because I drank too much and forgot to at least call her, one of my siblings could've looked after her but it was my turn that night".
I got sentimental as he told me this, but needed to ask one more question.
"But this still doesn't explain why she's trying to blackmail you Michael".
"Dennis stabbed the prostitute because he was way too drunk and she wanted an extra tip for her performance, he was already on the watchlist of the police so I offered him to go to rehab and I told them it was me since I also got blood on my clothes".
"But you weren't even in the room?", I asked him, handing him a tissue.
"But the one who ran away", he shrugged his shoulders.
"By the way the engagement ring I gave you, was the one my mother got from my dad forty years ago".
My mouth dropped. I actually felt so good to sell it and now it was the one his mother got as an engagement ring.
I closed my eyes as in the same moment tears streamed down my face.
"Valerie fell in love with me as we met a few years ago in the hotel", he explained.
"I was there for partying, we were already dating Amanda so I only drank a few shots and she couldn't take it that I was commited to another woman".
I stared at him, listening carefully.
"She found about the case and tries now to blackmail me, forcing me to sleep with her, otherwise she would ruin my carreer... I'm still deeply ashamed about it even though I didn't do nothing to that girl".
"But she came to therapist sessions on her own", I shook my head.
"She just knew that I have a girlfriend, I never mentioned your name or anything", he told me.
