Two Hours Later
"Ms. Langdon?", a nurse woke me up, rocking on my arm.
My eyes fluttered open. "Yes?", my voice so raspy it hurt my own ears.
"She woke up now, would you like to see Ms Deer?".
Isn't it ironic that Valerie's last name is deer, like she is always called bambi caused by her eyes?
I blinked again, trying to get rid of the tiredness that still rested heavy on my eyes.
"Sure", I said, managing to get up. My one leg got numb - why the hell do I always fall asleep in terrible sitting positions like that, I thought to myself.
I sighed.
"Here you go, the second to last door on the left", she pointed along the hallway.
I thanked her and made my way to Valerie.
Carefully knocking the door, "May I come in?", I asked peeking an eye through the slit.
"Amanda", Valerie mumbled, apparently still under heavy calmative agents.
"How are you?", I asked, stepping nearer her bed.
I sat down on the one side, facing her.
She blinked slowly, her eyes had a glow of sleep in them. She looked still tired and literally was looking through me even though she answered everything I was asking her.
"Just a few stitches", she told me as I asked her what they did in the operating room.
The doctor actually had to sew her lower part.
"Yes, he basically ripped my vagina", she mumbled, a small tear ran down her eye as she faced the ceiling, avoiding eyecontact.
This shouldn't be embarrase her at all, she can trust me and I'm the last one to give her a speech about doing wrong.
But I understand her, this is not easy to cope with.
I hesitately ran my fingers through her hair, breaking the silence that laid upon us.
She flinched a little by the sudden touch of my hand.
"Sorry", I murmured, kindly smiling at her.
"You're gonna be alright, I'll take care of you".
Empowering her strength I told her to feel free to join me when the hospital discharges her.
She doesn't have to work in this place anymore, and I'm determined to find a good job and education for her. She's still so young of age and I'm damn sure that she is getting along with it.
A Week Later
So many days had past, and today Valerie finally got released from the hospital.
I haven't heard something from Michael. He probably won't call or come at all.
I decided to rent me a small apartment in the town nearby so I don't have a long way for work.
Neither have I seen him walking around in the building I am working, even though it was just two days in a row that I was there, but still, nothing.
I shifted from one foot to another, eagerly waiting for her to step out of the hospital.
I stopped by a flower store on the way, buying a small bouquet of daisys and yellow tulips. I think these are nice warm colors to cheer up any mood, not only to mention that they smell really good.
The doors automatically got open and Valerie stepped outside.
She spotted me and walked towards me. "Good to see you", I smiled wide at her.
"These are for you", I handed her the flower bouquet with a slight nod.
"Thank you so much, but you shouldn't have", she chuckled admiring the flowers and their scent.
Six Month Later
Valerie applied for an apprenticeship as a hairdresser and soon after this got a full aceptance for the job.
She finally could affort a flat on her own. Just a small one with two rooms but it was enough space for her to bring her twin siblings along with her. They are old enough that they don't need the milk of a mother anymore, and she plans to get her others too.
I'm in a steady contact with her, just to make sure she's ok, or to babysit for her little ones.
I'm still working as an psychologist in the same building as before. I noticed craftsmen in the third floor, they were busy with arranging the room where Michael had his office.
I think he's not working there anymore. He probably gave up his recent job to focus fully on his career.
Not only because his first ever released album is coming next week and the 'little short film' like all the newspapers call it sweetly breaks all records at the moment.
It hits the whole country like an earthquake. Everyone is talking about it and all magazines are writing about it. They all are desperate to get a glimpse of him and want to get an interview about it.
I've never seen him after this and I'm kind of glad about it.
Not to mention that I bought this little flat from the money I got after selling my engagement ring.
Who knew it was worth more than eightythousand dollars.
Yes I sold it. And it didn't bother me one second. It was soothing and kind of set me free.
Suddenly the phone was blowing up, ripping me out of my thoughts.
"Hello, it's Ms. Langdon speaking", I said taking the receiver.
