Chapter 6: Shiny Badge

After Ron had stopped trying to strangle (Y/n), he and Hermione told them who the other prefects were.

"There are two prefects from each house, a boy and a girl." Hermione explained.

"And guess who's the Slytherin prefect" rom said bitterly.

"Larry?" (Y/n) said.

"What?" Ron said staring at him.

"Well is it Larry?" He asked.

Harry hit the back of his head. "Malfoy" He said.

"Who's Hufflepuff?" (Y/n) asked.

"Hannah Abbot and Ernie Macmillan, and Anthony Goldstein and Padma Patil for Ravenclaw" Hermione said.

"You went to the Yule Ball with Padma Patil?" Luna said to Ron, not looking up from the Quibbler.

"Yeah I did"

"She didn't enjoy it that much, because you wouldn't dance with her." Still not looking up from the Quibbler.

Ron stared at her for a second before continuing "We're supposed to patrol the corridor from time to time" Ron said looking at his watch. "And best of all we can dish out punishments, I can't wait to get Crabbe and Goyle"

"You're not suppose to abuse your position Ron!" Hermione said to him crossly.

"Yeah like that Slytherin git won't" Ron said.

"Oi don't call Larry a git, he's a good guy" (Y/n) said.

Ron stared at him. "Who the hell is Larry?"

(Y/n) shrugged "don't know"

Ron shook his head at (Y/n) "mental, Bloody mental" he muttered.

"I'm gonna make Goyle write lines, that'll kill him, he hated writing."

Ron screwed up his face and lowered his voice to Goyles low grunt. "I.... must..... not...... look..... like....... a baboon's..... backside"

Everyone burst out in laughter, but no one laughed harder than Luna. "That was funny!" She said.

A while later the door slide open and Malfoy was standing in the doorway, (Y/n) sighed.

"Well well well look who's got a new arm" Malfoy said smirking at (Y/n).

"Do we have to do this Malfoy? Every year"said (Y/n) annoyed. "Can't we just hug it out, or hold hands and sing Kumbaya?"

"Oh shut up (L/n), now then-"

"Wow that was rude Malfoy, you're a prefect you should really be setting a good example for people" (Y/n) said.

"Just shut up (L/n) and you too Potter" he said as Harry opened his mouth. "Now then I unlike you have been made a prefect, which means I unlike you have the power to hand out punishments" Malfoy said.

"Yeah but you unlike me are a git" Harry said.

"Ah you better watch yourself Potter, it's bad to insult your superiors you know." Malfoy said with a sneer.

(Y/n) got up quickly and Malfoy flinched backwards. "Don't worry Draco, just wanted to apologize for some of the things I've said and done to you"

He quickly crossed the compartment and pulled Malfoy into a tight hug. Malfoy quickly pushed him off.

"Sod off" he said he then turned to Harry. "Now you better be good Potty, because I'll be dogging your footsteps in case you step out of line"

"Get out!" Hermione shouted at him pointing at the door.

Malfoy smirked once more at them, and then sauntered out of the compartment. Hermione slammed the door behind him.

"What'd you steal this time?" She asked (Y/n) taking her seat next to him.

"Eh just his badge" he said pulling another prefect badge out of his arm. "Thought he didn't quite deserve it"

Ron and Harry burst out laughing, but Hermione looked at him horrified "but (Y/n) he's a prefect now!"

"Don't worry I'll give it back to him." He said with a wink. "When he deserves it" he added in an undertone.

They idled away the time playing games, and talking. (Y/n) spent a bit of time reading with Hermione.

It was getting dark outside and (Y/n) thought they must be nearing Hogwarts by now, when the compartment door swung open.

"Give it back (L/n)!" Malfoy snarled at him.

(Y/n) stared at him blankly "Come again?" He said sweetly.

"Give. It. Back!"

"Give What back? Say where's your badge Malfoy, I thought you'd be wearing it" (Y/n) said pointing at his robes.

"I know you took it (L/n)!"

"Again I don't know what you're talking about Malfoy, perhaps you dropped it? Or maybe lost it?" (Y/n) said to him.

"Detention (L/n)!"

"What for? You have no proof I did anything." (Y/n) said with a smirk. "But by all means go and tell the headmaster let's see how he takes these accusations"

Malfoy glared at him sourly. "You can look through my trunk if you'd like" (Y/n) said to him.

"Watch yourself (L/n), I'd hate for something bad to happen to you"

"Same goes to you Malfoy. It'd be a shame if you lost your position for misuse of power"

Malfoy glared at him for a while, while (Y/n) stood there smiling at him.

"Well then if that's everything I suspect you'd want to search for your lost badge"

Malfoy left, making sure to slam the door on his way out. After he had left (Y/n), Ron and Harry burst into laughter.

"Did you see his face!"

"Be careful (Y/n), he has power now" Hermione said to him. "He could actually put you in detention"

"I'd like to see him try" (Y/n) said smiling widely, and pulling Hermione into a one armed hug.

"I have a feeling this year is going to be fun" (Y/n) said mischievously.
