Vitthala, Vitthala
The name rings in my ears
Vitthala , Vitthala
I know, he is there. The sweet name, the dweller dark
Standing before me, O Vitthala
I pour milk on your feet, fragrant sandalwood and hibiscus
And give you the marigold garland, the yellow orange hues swinging around your slender neck.O Vitthala, who gave you such a name?
Such intense purity, so soothing to my ears
That I cannot forget it,
O Vitthala, what magic has thee done on me?Vitthala, Vitthala, I sang thy praise
Alone, in the depths of my mind
Thoughts and actions blending together, the silent chanting giving way to a shivering whisper
O Vitthala, who gave you such a beautiful name?I wish, I too had such an intoxicating presence
A name that caressed the wounds of a barren soul
Parched, dry heart quenching it's thirst of love
Under thy shower of eternal bliss and love
O Vitthala, who are thee? Living inside of me?Who are you, O Vitthala, your name calls me
To sing thy praises all day, with no rest
Until I faint in your arms.My head rested over your chin, I sing thy praises
Cradling you in my arms, like singing a child to sleep
Until you don't, and I give up, and you lure me to sleep.O Vitthala, what magic thy name contains, that I get attracted to it like a moth
Of consciousness?
O Vitthala, what great being are thee
That I cannot but look at thee in glee and wonder
Over the sunset blossoming horizon, I see you
Like the dark, blue clouds of rain
The yellow-gold rays of the setting sun
Your garments, your adornments, the shimmering moonbeams
Your dangling earrings, that you wear while you sleep
O Vitthala, what have I become? Insane!
Why do I call your name?
Write a poem for you?
Who are you, Vitthala, who are you?
