The weekend came by sooner than expected and I had been begging my dad to let boys come to the barbecue. "No, Katherine and that's final." He said walking away from me. "You're being unreasonable," I  stated.

"She's right." My mother said.

"Misti, whose side are you on?" My dad asked. "I'm just saying." My mother said. "Please daddy. It's not like you and mom won't be here 24/7." I said.

"Come on Kenneth." My mom said wrapping her arms around him. I thought I was good at getting what I wanted, but my mom was a pro. "Fine, but none are to be upstairs except to pee." He said.

"Deal," I said. Life was going great. I had friends, found my mate, and my training was lessening since I was so good. Hope, Blaze, and Ariel were coming over for a little sleepover before the barbecue tomorrow afternoon. My dad gave me a weak smile as I flopped down on the couch. "Do you like it here?" My mom asked out of the blue. "I really do," I said.

"Are you just saying that?" She asked.

"No, not this time," I said. At several of our previous homes, my mom asked me the same question an I lied secretly begging to leave already packing my things ready to move to our new house. "I'm glad because I want us to permanently stay here. This is our home." My mother said. I jumped off the couch giving my mom a hug. My dad was a little less happy with that thought. "I'm not so sure about that Misti." My father said.

"Why? My mother asked.

"Yeah, why?" I asked.

"I'm not so fond of the town." He said.

"Please dad my..." I said stopping myself before admitting that I found my mate. "You're what?" My mom asked.

"Yes, you're what?" My dad asked. Should I just tell then the truth or not an let us move away from him forever never to return. I settled on telling them the truth.  "I found my...mate," I said. "When?" My father asked.

"First day of school," I said.

"Why didn't you say anything?" My mom asked. "He's a human," I said.

"Is he coming tomorrow?" My dad asked. "Yes, well I hope," I said.

"Fine, then it's settled. We stay." My dad said. "You're serious," I said.

"Of course I am. It's not every day that your baby girl finds her mate." My dad said.

Eric POV:

I had begged Clover to come shopping with me and here she was shopping with me, but something was wrong. I didn't want to be here with Clover, by I wanted to be here with Katherine. Her smile, her laugh, her voice I wanted it all now. "Eric," Clover said snapping me out o my thoughts. "Yeah," I said.

"What are you doing tomorrow?" She asked. "Katherine's barbecue. What about you?" I asked.

"Tomorrow's our day." She said. Then it hit me. Every Saturday we hang out and catch up on homework and stuff. "I completely forgot," I said.

"It's fine just ditch the barbecue." She said. That was a simple way to keep our deal to hang out, but I couldn't just ditch. I wanted to be there and to see Katherine. "Why don't you just be my plus one," I said.

"Eric Williams, are you asking me on a date?" She asked.

"No, I was just keeping our deal," I said. She gave a smile, but I saw he disappointment in her eyes. Clover was great, but I never thought about her that way because she was my best friend. She then hid her disappointment and playfully pushed me. "I'm pulling your leg." She said, but I knew that truth. "So what should I wear tomorrow?" I asked.

"Why do you care so much?" She asked. "I don't wanna look like a fool in front of her," I said.

"You'll never look like a fool." She said.

"How do you know?" I asked.

"Because I never think you look like a fool." She said.

"Your not her though. You two are different." I said.

"How so?" She asked.

"She's so and your so," I said. I couldn't describe it, but something about Katherine was real and genuine that wasn't in Clover
