Next morning, Thursday morning to be exact, Louis indeed was eating breakfast with Zayn. It was around 8 a.m. so both of them were somewhat quiet, though for Zayn it was normal but for Louis? Not so much.
As crazy as it sounded, Zayn had slept behind Louis' door the whole night. When Louis had woke up and opened the door, Zayn had fell inside his room, woke up and then jumped to his feet, immediately hugging Louis.
Louis took small bites but really didn't taste a thing. He just didn't feel like eating or talking... or walking, sitting, breathing, living and okay, Louis knew he was overreacting and no, he wasn't depressed. He was just angry because of the way things had went and sad because he couldn't talk with Harry.
He really liked to talk with Harry.
Yes, he still could talk to the younger lad but considering how they both had skipped supper and locked themselves in their rooms, not talking to anyone, it wasn't really a good idea just go and start randomly talk to him. It would be awkward.
"Are you okay?" asked Zayn, glancing at Louis.
Louis sighed. "I'm fine."
"Usually that means the exact opposite."
"That only adds up to girls. When a guy says he's fine, then he is fine."
Zayn frowned, knowing Louis was talking bullshit. "What happened with Harry yesterday?"
"What do you mean?" Louis asked, not looking Zayn in the eye. He really, really didn't want to talk about it. Zayn should understand it.
"You didn't come for supper, neither one of you. You both stayed in your rooms, doors locked, throughout the evening and night!" Zayn spread his arms. "Even a blind man can see that something happened between the two of you."
Louis didn't answer him, so Zayn continued, "And besides, when I tried to make you let me in last night, Liam was doing same with Harry. Neither of you opened the doors nor talked to us."
Now Louis was just getting frustrated. He didn't really want to hear Zayn talking about how he and Harry had immured oneself.
"What's this questioning, dude? Get off my back- is Liam questioning Harry too or am I just special?" Louis sassed.
Zayn ignored his best friend's sharp words.
"He sure tries but I strongly believe we won't get a word out of you two", said Zayn, looking a bit worried.
"Right you are", Louis said, stood up and walked away. He was done with Zayn's questions and just wanted to be alone in peace... Though he had no idea where to go.
Wherever he went, there was always other people. The house was full of people all the time. It was starting to get hard for Louis- being among so many people. He didn't like it at all.
Without destination, he walked around the house, not really knowing where in the house he was exactly. He tried to be as small and invisible as possible because he didn't want to be in anybody's way. Frankly, it was quite easy since he was tiny, no point denying it.
Finally Louis ended up in the backyard. He walked to the place where they had been singing, and sat down. He stared out of nowhere, not really thinking about anything. His mind was empty.
Louis flinched when someone suddenly sat down next to him. He glared at Ed, who didn't even look at him. After a couple of minutes, Louis speaks.
"Where's your boyfriend?"
Louis wasn't really interested about Niall's whereabouts but he needed to say something.
"With Harry", Ed replied.
Louis didn't reply. He regretted asking and prayed inside his head that Ed was done with talking. But, apparently, God wasn't listening to him.
"Do you wanna talk about it?" asked Ed.
"No."
Ed shrugged. "Okay, I just needed to ask- Niall'd have killed me if I wouldn't have at least tried to make you talk."
Again, Louis didn't reply, and Ed kept his mouth shut too. It was silence quite a long, but was it uncomfortable silence? Oddly enough, no.
Louis didn't notice that someone was coming towards them until their shadow popped over Louis. He lifted his eyes up and saw Niall but then his mouth went dry. Harry was with Niall. When Louis and Harry's eyes met, they quickly turned to look somewhere else.
They acted childish but they couldn't help it. It was too soon to start talking things through like an adults. They needed a little bit distance.
"Hi, guys", said Niall, kissing Ed's cheek.
Louis kept his eyes firmly away from Harry. "Hi. I need to go to... see if Mrs. Payne needs me to do something."
He quickly got up, kept his eyes on the ground and focused on getting past Harry without touching him.
"Oh", said Niall. "Well, see you later, Louis."
"Um, yeah, sure." Louis walked away, and not even once did he look into Harry's eyes. Although, you can't blame him since saw just as much effort to avoid eye contact as Louis did.
Louis got lost four times until he finally found Liam, acting all cheerful and what else. He coaxed Liam to come with him. Really Louis just wanted to get away from Harry, not to do works, but since he was already there, he mind as well take Liam with him so there would be less work to do.
"Louis, wait!"
Louis stopped, and turned to look at Liam. "What?"
"Zayn's there", said Liam, pointing at some door which was open. "I'm gonna ask him to come too."
Louis nodded. It mean less work for him. Good thing was that now Louis would get his mind out of uncomfortable things like... well, Harry. Or talking about Harry and their fight.
Okay, Louis knew it wasn't exactly a fight. It was just a some kind of understanding of their differences of opinion. Basically it was just awkward between him and Harry now.
"Hi, L", said Zayn, walking next to Liam.
"Hi", Louis said simply, and turned to look at Liam. "So where's your mom?"
"I'll call her." Liam did, and Zayn and Louis waited patiently while Liam talked with her. Soon enough Liam ended the call and turned to look at Zayn and Louis.
"Well?" Louis asked.
Liam's phone buzzed, and he took it out. "Well she wants that we finish everything today."
Then Liam showed the text message he had got to Zayn and Louis.
"All of those things?" Zayn gasped in horror.
"All of those things", Liam confirmed, making Zayn pull his hair groaning.
Louis stared at the long list and even though he hated working, he felt happy and relieved. Those things that were in that text message were just what Louis needed to keep his mind away from... unwanted things like, eh, Harry. He clapped his hands together.
"Okay, lads!" he exclaimed loudly. "Let's get to work."
Zayn and Liam exchanged worried looks. This wasn't like Louis, and they both knew it. Louis was trying to keep something out of his mind, that was certain. They knew Louis, they knew how he acted when he was "fine". And right now, Louis desperately wanted to do work, and it was a bit strange since Louis basically hated working.
And yeah, they knew who Louis wanted to keep out of his mind, they just didn't know why.
"Come on, lads. I'm not getting any younger here", Louis said, already walking away. He was wearing a big fat fake smile and they saw immediately right through it.
"Jeez, what's that on his face?" asked Liam, grimacing at Louis' fake smile which looked really very fucking horrible.
Zayn sighed and started following Louis. "It's called desperation."
