"Seriously? Then are you with the authorities?" Elia asked.

"No, what makes you think all the high tiers work for authorities?" Leilah asked Arlo, raising an eyebrow.

"Well, isn't it common knowledge that high tiers either work for authorities, security, or become vigilante. Of course there's another group, EMBER."

The conversation quickly became awkward.

"Hahaha, you are so straighforward." Leilah laughed. "In fact, i work as a project manager for an ability research company called ZetaSci."

"NXGen's competitors?" Elia asked once more.

"That's correct, but we're still a tiny company that only formed a few months ago. We just work on some gadjets." Leilah calmly explained. "You are interested in this field?"

"Yes, I wish to work in this field in the future after I graduate. I know a couple stuff here and there."

"Great! High tiers will always be welcomed." Leilah gave an odd smile.

"I didn't say I'll work in your company though." Elia cut Leilah's happiness short.

The situation became awkward again.

"Since when were you so frank?" Blyke asked.

Elia shrugged but did not reply.

"NXgen is a bigger and better company. They also have enormous financial prowess. If I graduate, I will definitely choose to work there." Elia said.

"Uhhh..." Leilah started thinking on how to poach this young talent as well as promote her own company. "NXgen is filled with a bunch of old farts, they don't let you experiment on your free will and they also make you sign a strict contract. Not to mention, there was a security breach. Lots of their intell were stolen. And I heard." Leilah paused looking around before saying a little bit softer, "it was an insider job."

The people on the table immediately received a surprise. Even Darren who was fuming and storming in his own world a while ago suddenly paid attention.

"How do you know?" Elia asked suspiciously.

Leilah smirked mysteriously. "I have my sources."

The convesation was quickly diverted away from the topic as Leilah did not want to continue. Everyone was incredibly happy and felt that Leilah was such a nice person. Well.....except for a particular someone.

"Miss Leilah, you're such a nice person, why do you waste time on this grumpy old fart." Blyke teased.

Darren was extremely gloomy and upon hearing this, his eyes twitched in anger.

"That was so fun." Blyke stretched his arms leisurely.

"I know right."

"By the way, I didn't know that you had an interest on ability research." He added.

"My parent's have something to do with it."

Blyke quickly became awkward. This topic was extremely sensitive and he avoided touching it no matter what. It was quite a surprise that Elia would suddenly bring it up.

Elia saw the look on his face.
"What? Surprised? Don't worry, I moved on from the past. Just don't suddenly call me that name and it will be fine." Elia chuckled.

There was then an awkward silence.

Blyke was hesitating about it.

"Spit it out Blyke." Elia chuckled seeing Blyke's expression.

"Umm...why did you go missing?" Blyke asked, still with hesitance.

Elia stopped, her expression darkened by a notch before she replied.
"Bullies....I couldn't stand it so I ran away from home."

"Oo," Blyke was very surprised. "It was so bad you had to run away?"

"You wouldn't know." Elia said frankly. "In Wellston, Low tiers are bullied, but they won't fight back out of fear. They accepted their fate but I was different, I was protested agaisnt my trecherous fate and I was saved, I had attained salvation."

Blyke stared at her, trying to discern her words. Before asking out of concern again, "Aren't your parents very worried?"

Elia's expression darkened even further for a split second before it cleared up again
"Hah! All those missing post and urgency are just a formality to them. They already have another beautiful and talented daughter as well as their precious baby company. Why would they care if the trash and nuisance of a daughter suddenly dissapear?"

Blyke was silent for a moment before he added, "Don't worry, in my eyes you are just as beautiful and talented as your sister."

Elia flashed a look of gratitude before chuckling. "You never even met her."

"Ahh..." Blyke rubbed his hair in embarassment.

"They're back." Elia nodded at Elaine and Arlo's figure that emerged from the convenience store.

"Why couldn't you just get it from wellston?" Elia's eyes narrowed.

"Wellston mart closes at 6. Thanks to a certain someone, I now have to carry groceries all the way back." Arlo annoyedly pointed at his watch which showed that the time was nearly 7.

"Tch, whatever."
