"ALLISON, WHEN YOU said you needed to stop for an errand before we went shopping, a five-mile hike in the woods was not what I was expecting," Lydia complained as the trio trudged through the woods. Lilith wasn't usually one to complain about exercise, but she was wearing heals and the ground was damp.

"Before I forget, I want to ask you if you're okay with something. Jackson asked me to the winter formal," Allison told them, which shocked Lilith. She knew Jackson and Lydia broke up, but it wasn't that long ago. Lydia put on a brave face, but anyone with eyes could tell she was still upset.

"Did he?" Lydia asked, her eyes widening.

"Yeah. Just as friends, but I just wanted to make sure you're okay with it first," Allison explained, a small smile on her face. Lilith was bewildered by the girl's question, as she thought that Allison still had feelings for Scott, considering they broke up like a week ago at most. But, some high schoolers move on fast, especially ones who never loved their red-headed girl friend and was trying to get back at his rival by dating his ex, the red head's best friend.

"Sure," Lydia agreed awkwardly, obviously not okay with it. "As long as it's just friends."

"Well, yeah, I mean, it's not like I would take him into the coach's office during lacrosse practice to make out with him or anything," Allison shot at her friend, Lilith's eyes narrowing, puzzled by her friend's words.

"Well, that was oddly specific," Lilith commented as she paused, looking at the two who seemed to want to share boyfriends. Of course, Lilith wasn't against polyamory, sure it wasn't her thing, but if that was what her friends were into, then they should go for it. But the whole conversation sounded like a huge violation of girl code.

"Uh, about that," Lydia said quietly, moving away from Lilith and closer to Allison. Shaking her head, Lily caught up with the girls, not ready for the conversation.

"What does that do?" Lydia asked as Allison put an oddly shaped arrow head onto the shaft. Lilith didn't have a vast knowledge of bows, but she knew most arrows didn't look like that.

"We're about to find out," She told them, notching the arrow and aiming for a tree in front of them. When the arrow hit the tree, it lit up in a bright, white light. The arrow was a flash bomb.

"What the hell is that?" Lydia asked, not liking the weapons being used.

"I don't know," Allison answered honestly.

"Well, I could tell you. That would be a magnesium-based flash bomb. It must have a way to light the magnesium on fire upon contact, effectively releasing a blinding white light. Why anyone would own one, though, is beyond me," Lilith explained, getting puzzled looks from her friends. "What? I like chemistry and weapons."
