LILITH WAS RUNNING. From what, she didn't know, but she was terrified. She felt like screaming until she lost her voice. It was as if she wasn't in control of her body. She recognized the area she was in, it was the first floor of the school and then the bus lot. She tried to lock her self on the bus, but whatever was chasing her just burst through the glass of the back door.
The sight of what was chasing her made her want to scream. It looked like Scott when he wolfed out, but scarier and more wolf-like. Its eyes were a beady red that peered into her soul, staring at her like she was his next meal and her intuition said she was. She tried to get out the door, but he pulled her by her ankles backwards. She tried grabbing at the bars supporting the seats on the bus, but it didn't work. He was too strong and she was too weak.
She was able to get away, finally reaching the door this time, but she couldn't open it. She looked into the reflection of the door but didn't see herself. Instead, she saw the bus driver she remembered from when she used to ride the bus to her uncle's. Before she could process the idea that she was seeing through someone else's eyes, she was grabbed and dragged again
~
Lilith woke with a start, sweat dripping down her body. It was hard for Lilith to believe that was a dream with how vivid and painful it was. Every time the bus drivers head hit the ground or the monster dragged him by his ankles, it hurt like hell. She was pulled out of her shock by a thick liquid coming from her nose and dripping down to her mouth. It tasted like copper. Putting her fingers up to the liquid, pulling them back to find blood, But it wasn't red, it was black.
Grabbing some tissues and quickly wiping what was left of the substance before moving to get ready for school, doing her best to ignore everything that happened during the night. It was probably just a bad dream, she told herself, werewolves don't look like that and the nosebleed was just a coincidence. You probably imagined the blood to be black because you were still tired.
She knew she was lying to herself but she did that often. Telling herself something wasn't real was a tactic her therapist had taught her when she struggled with hallucinations due to PTSD after finding her parent's bodies. She put on her leggings and over-sized hoodie, tying up her converse and headed downstairs to make her coffee. That was before realizing she was out of coffee. Grabbing her wallet and leaving a note saying she went to school early, she texted Stiles and told him to pick her up in five minutes and she'd pay for his coffee. Any later and he'd be paying for her's.
"Hey, Smiles," She greeted him weakly as she got in his jeep two minutes after texting him. "How exactly did you get to my house in under two minutes?"
"Would you believe me if I said I drove below the speed limit?" She shook her head with a smirk on her face. "Fine. So, how did the coffee addict run out of coffee?"
"I really don't know," She admitted, just as confused as Stiles. She was usually really good at getting coffee when she needed it. She'd just have to stop by the store after school. "I guess I subconsciously wanted to see Mari." Marielle Kalette was one of Lilith's coworkers at Starbucks. The two often worked closing shifts together until Mari started doing early college in the afternoon and it was easier for her to work mornings. Due to their conflicting schedules, the two girls rarely saw each other anymore, much to their dismay.
