LILITH GOT TO work that weekend and decided to ask her manager about Marielle's mysterious disappearance. The only response she got was that Mari had missed two weeks straight without a single call or notice. Lily had a bad feeling about the situation, so she went to Marielle's house. If everything was okay, it would be weird to show up unannounced after not talking to Mari in almost six months.
Her worries about the possibly awkward encounter were shoved aside as she noticed there were no cars in the driveway. Parking the car Melissa let her borrow, Lily got out and knocked on the door, but no one answered. She even texted Marielle, asking if the girl was okay and didn't get a response.
Something was definitely wrong. Mari wouldn't just leave Beacon Hills without telling someone or selling their house and they wouldn't leave for vacation without letting her boss know. But, Lilith didn't even know where to begin searching and Scott had to do the grocery shopping that night as punishment, so she had to take the car home for him to do that. Her search wasn't done, but it was done for the night.

"The what of who?" Lydia asked as Lilith sat with her and Allison at lunch that Monday. Apparently, Allison's homicidal aunt was trying to get Allison to figure out the family business and eventually join. Now, they were talking about one of the first werewolves the Argent's fought against.
"The beast of Gevaudan. Listen, 'a quadruped wolf-like monster, prowling the Auvergne and South Dordogne areas of France during the year 1764 to 1767. La Bete killed over a hundred people, becoming so infamous that the King Louie the Fifteenth sent one of his best hunters to try and kill it.'," Allison read, looking at Lydia as if she was supposed to be interested. The strawberry blonde loved information, but she preferred the useful kind to the useless myths.
"Boring," Lydia noted, seeming very uninterested. Lilith, on the other hand, didn't know how to respond. The girl's aunt tried to kill Derek not too long ago and now that same woman was trying to get her new friend to follow in her footsteps.
"'Even the church eventually declare the monster a messenger of Satan.'" Allison read that part as if was supposed to affect Lydia's indifference, but it didn't. It didn't help Lilith, either, as the girl was convinced that her boyfriend was a messenger from Satan without knowing her boyfriend was a messenger of Satan.
"Eh, still boring," Lydia said, still not enjoying the load of information being dumped on her for no reason.
"'Cryptozoologists believe it may have been a subspecies of hoofed predator, possibly a mesonychid-'"
"'Slipping into a coma' bored."
"'-While others believe it was a powerful sorcerer who could shape-shift into a man-eating monster,'" Allison said with quiet enthusiasm, hoping to win Lydia over.
