14: The Other Reason

Nini POV (This whole chapter is in Nini's POV)

"You really want to know?" She nodded. "Okay here it goes..."

Flashback

My dad wanted me to come to his office during lunch because he had to talk to me. I had no clue why but I was really curious. I was about to knock on his door but he opened it before I could.

"Hey dad. What's up, why did you want to talk to me?"

"You need to stop talking with Ricky."

"What why?"

"I know you guys have been going out."

"What? No we haven't, he started ignoring me so I haven't even talked to him."

"Nini, stop. I know the truth, I have proof of you guys being together."

"What proof?"

"I have a student that has been...keeping an eye on you. I know you guys went on a date when you said you were going to your friends, you always talk in the halls and cafeteria, and you are still texting him."

"Who? Who is your 'spy' that is watching me?"

"I'm sorry but I can't tell you that."

"Well I'm not staying away from him. You can't make me."

"Yes I can, because if you don't stay away from him I'll kick him off the team, send you to an all girls school, and you will never see him again."

"You wouldn't dare."

"Oh I would. You live under my house, you go by my rules. Now go get lunch before people think your anorexic. Actually you might not need the food. You shouldn't eat for a couple days, you're getting a little fat."

"What? You've never said that to me before? Why are you being so mean? Ever since we moved here you have been different."

"I'm the same person I always was. You just never saw it. Now go before anyone suspects anything. And remember-"

"I know, don't talk to Ricky." I walked out of his room. I walked into the cafeteria not looking at Ricky. (I don't want to say what happened between them again so pretend that already happened.)

I sat by Serenity, Ben, and Carlos. I met them on my first day of school. We became good friends but they weren't relevant in the story till now. I couldn't tell them anything and they understood that.

End of Flashback

"Oh my God, Nini. I'm so sorry."

"Why are you sorry? It's not your fault or your problem. I don't even know why I told you, I wasn't supposed to tell anybody."

"Well you made it my problem by telling me. I'm gonna try and help you with this anyway that I can okay?"

"Okay. I really like Ricky."

"I know you do. And he really likes you, I can see it."

"Then why didn't he fight for me? He let me push him away. He didn't stop me."

"He was hurting too. He didn't want to push you away, trust me. He was crying when he came to my house. He was so upset about not being there for what you needed. He thought he did something wrong."

"He did nothing wrong. It was my fucking father."

"I know, I'm going to try and help you out of this. We just have to think of something."

"There's nothing we can do. Just leave it okay?"

"Wait, I have an idea."

"Don't just leave me hanging, what is it?"

"Okay what we should do is-" She was cut off by the bell. "Okay I'll tell you after school."

"Okay come to my house and we can talk about it. Since my dad has practice." She nodded. "See you in class. And remember no kissing MY boyfriend."

"Okay, okay. I promise."

I went through the rest of the school day wondering what her idea is.
