You're Driving

2014

The bass of your music vibrates throughout the car
As you speed down the road
In between the tree branches.
This feeling is unfamiliar,
And yet the stars are ones I've seen before.
I can't relax or turn to my left where you are.

I can only imagine this kind of moment
is what it feels like to fall in love.
And the thought grasps me intensely

The crisp air keeps me up, but my eyes close
It's bliss to capture all that I'm feeling inside
While outside I'm squeezing every muscle, trying to keep myself in control

I'm fidgeting. And you're driving.
And for those moments gliding under the stars and moon
It feels as if only you and I are here
In this car, listening to a loud beat
With a soft voice singing about love
While I remind myself to breath
And you drive on and decide on a new melody
