Only in my Dreams (Chapter 14)

Oh one more thing before I forget, so far this story has been in Kyle and Amy's POV but this chapter, I through in someone else at the last part. It won't be hard to figure out who it is, I promise.

Chapter 14

A few hours later, the four of us find ourselves sitting in the kitchen with all the lights off; the only light coming from the security light from the back yard. Katherine explained the baby situation to Jaime who said nothing at first. He was just as shocked as anyone else.

"Does Kyle know yet?" He asks after a moment.

I shook my head.

"Yeah he does."

I quickly glance over to John waiting for an explanation.

"With everything that has been going on, I thought he needed to know in case something was to happen."

So after that little revelation, we made our way into the kitchen. There is another pot of coffee sitting between the four of us but no one is really drinking it. My nerves have been teetering on the edge for about an hour and a half now, waiting to hear something from Kyle. I don't know if he's okay or lying in a ditch somewhere and I'm to the point where I can't take it anymore.

I get up and start to pace hoping to distract myself in some way. A moment later, Jaime's cellphone rings causing me to jump.

"Yeah?" Jaime says in a quiet tone.

"Just a second." Jaime looks over to John. "Is anyone staying in your lake house?"

John shakes his head in response.

"Okay, we'll be ready." Jaime closes his phone.

Before he could say anything, questions start flying out of my mouth.

"Was that Kyle? Is he okay?"

Jaime walks over to me.

"Amy, he's fine. He's on his way."

He turns back to his sister and brother-in-law before speaking again.

"Pack a bag; we're going to the lake house."

John nods then ushers Katherine to the bedroom. I head to the guess bedroom to get my bag. I stash the gun John gave me earlier in the side compartment then make sure my bag is zipped. I make my way out to the living room to see Jaime peeking out the window. Jaime moves to the door to open it revealing Kyle standing on the other side. Thank God...

As soon as I step into the door, a small body collides into me. My arms automatically come up to hold Amy tight against me. Relief washes over me at the sight of my angel. I take a step back to examine her, making sure there isn't a scratch on her.

"Kyle, I'm fine, I promise." She says with a smile.

"I'm sorry about earlier. We need to talk." She continues.

I place my hands on her cheeks then lean down to kiss her. This kiss takes her by surprise and I take full advantage of her stunned demeanor. A moment later, someone clears their throat and I reluctantly pull my head away.

"We will talk in the truck."

Amy nods her head in acknowledgement. I turn to face John and Jaime to let them know what the plan is. I'm about to reveal one of the dumbest ideas I've ever had but it's all I got.
