Chapter 10

Jack POV

I'm was a total idiot yesterday and made a fool of myself in front of Liz. I wanted to see her because I had a shit day and came up with the idea of a nighttime stroll through the quiet streets of San Francisco. When she said no, I immediately thought that she wasn't that sort of a person to sneak out. All these thoughts came to me and ended up making me embarrass myself in front of her. I thought that if she would prefer a guy who is more mature and doesn't go to the house of a girl he really likes at 8 o'clock at night and ask if she would sneak out to make him feel better. I need to make it up to her so I have organised an ice-skating date. There is a new rink that is temporarily in front of the Macy's store and to decorate the area there are lights all around. Liz has wanted to go but school work has been taking up her time so I made sure her schedule was clear tonight so we can go. 

At 5:30 pm, the sun is starting to set which is making the sky look really nice with the different shades of yellow and orange. Liz and I are getting out of the car and layering our clothes so we don't get cold, especially if we fall which I can guarantee I will. We walk from the car to the rink and tell the employee our shoe size for our ice-skates. I have trouble putting my skates on but Liz does not, she rushes to get them on and I laugh at her excitement. "Come on, Jack. I have never met someone who puts shoes on so slow", she says frustrated and I reach for her hand and she pulls me up from the bench. "Do you know how to skate?", Liz asks me and I shake my head as we step on the ice. I grip the wall as I slowly move my legs forward, scared of falling on my ass. Liz laughs at me as she skates beside me with no problem. "Here, give me your hand", she says and reaches for my hand. I pull away and she looks at me confused. "Jack, give me your hand", she says to me again. "I don't want to, I'm scared", I say as I try to skate along the wall. "Don't be so scared. A toddler isn't as scared as you", she laughs. Before I can say anything, Liz grabs my hand and pulls me off the wall with all her strength. She intertwines our hands and we skate around the large ice rink in sync. I concentrate too much which causes me to fall forward and I accidentally pull Liz with me as we hit the ice. We laugh and I apologise for tripping her. She is so stunning in this moment, the lights shining across her face nicely as she laughs. I lean in the kiss her but then I realise we are in the middle of the ice-skating rink where people are all around so she gets off me and pulls me up. I hold her hand again and she leads us around the rink. 

After about an hour of skating, Liz and I decide to stop and make a quick stop for frozen yogurt. We give our skates back to the employee and collect our belongings. "So, where is this frozen yogurt place?", Liz asks me and I point towards it. It is located across the road from the ice-skating rink so we walk. Liz and I decide to share so we get vanilla and mango with gummy bears and marshmallows to top it off. We walk back to the car after purchasing our frozen yogurt and talk about the flavours we got. "Thank you for tonight", Liz says to me and I shrug. "I wanted to make up for yesterday's date so I thought I would take you to here as you have wanted to go since it opened", I tell her and she smiles, holding my hand tighter. "You remembered?", she asks surprised and I nod. "Of course", I say. 

"I didn't think you listened to when I talk half the time. I just don't stop talking so I figured you'd zone out".

"No, I listen to everything you tell me but does that mean you zone out when I talk?", I ask and she shakes her head. We laugh and she leans closer to me. During the drive back to Liz's house, I place my hand on her thigh which makes her flinch. I pull away thinking she doesn't like it but she takes my hand and places it back on her thigh. "Your hands are cold", she laughs and I chuckle. I park my car in front of my house and walk across the road to Liz's house. "I'll see you tomorrow to walk you to school?", I ask and Liz nods. "Goodnight, baby. I love you", I whisper in her ear and she smiles. "Goodnight", she says and I walk back to my house. I understand why she didn't say I love you back, she isn't ready for that commitment and I will say it so many times to her for her to realise the way I feel about her. I don't want to scare her by telling her my feelings but I need her to know that I am 100% committed to her and will not leave her in the dark and I really hope she feels the same way about me. I told her before that I think I love her but now I have confirmed that I love her. I do, I am madly in love with Elizabeth Markle.
