Elizabeth POV
I wake up and my eyes immediately go to Jack who is sitting on the chair at my desk. "Hi?", I say and he turns around and smiles. He stands up and walks over to sit on my bed. "Hi", he says and tucks a loose strand of hair behind my ear. "What are you doing in my room at 9 in the morning?", I ask, looking at my phone. "I came to see you and your mum said you were still sleeping so she let me wait for you to wake up", he says. "You came to see me at 9 in the morning?", I say and he looks at me with a frown. "Yeah, but if you want me to go I will", he says and starts to stand but I stop him and push him down so he sits back on the bed. "No, it's fine. I just didn't expect to see you early in the morning without any warning", I say. "I missed you", he says and kisses me. "We saw each other yesterday but I think it's cute you want to see me all the time", I say to Jack with a smile. "Have you had breakfast", I ask. "No. Did you want to go out and get something?", he asks me but I reply with no. "I'll get dressed and I can make you pancakes for breakfast", I tell him and he agrees.
After I am dressed and refreshed, we go downstairs and I start to go through the pantry and collect all the ingredients I need to make pancakes. As I am mixing the batter, my little sister comes downstairs with my mum and smiles at me. "I'm making pancakes, do you want one Meg?", I ask her and she nods with a big smile. I give Meg the first pancake as she is an infant which means she always goes first. Meg comes around the kitchen counter and takes the first pancake along with a fork and maple syrup. I give Jack his breakfast and he thanks me. He takes his first bite and he moans in delight. I laugh and he tells me how good it tastes with his mouth full so it was hard to understand him. "It's my grandmother's recipe, she showed me how to make these when I was 13", I tell him and he nods with a smile. "It's really good. Best pancakes I have ever had", he says. "I'm glad you like it", I say and laugh at him still filling his mouth till it's full of the pancake.
Jack and I are in our second last year of school which means the work will with overload and we won't have time to see each other. That's a fear of mine, don't see each other often, everything would be awkward when we see each other after a while of being apart. I have also thought of Jack liking another girl, which would put me to the side and I don't want that. I know our relationship is confusing and it's my fault that it is but it would bother me so much if Jack has a girlfriend who isn't me. Why won't I be his girlfriend, you ask. Well, I am stupid and I am scared of screwing up everything. I must have zoned out for a while because I feel arms wrap around my waist and hot breath against my ear. Jack whispers in my ear "Are you ok?". I turn around and wrap my arms around his neck and thread my fingers through his hair. I nod with a frown. "If anything is wrong you can tell me. I'm here for you, baby", he says. I smile and pull him in for a kiss. This gives me reassurance that he isn't going anywhere.
"Hello", my little sister says from behind us, sitting at the dining table. We look at her and smile. "Do you need something, Meg?", I ask her and walk to the table. "I'm finished and would like some help taking my plate to the sink, please", she says and stands from her chair. I take her plate and place it in the sink. "You know, you don't want mummy and daddy to come and see you kissing. That would be embarrassing", Meg says with a bottle of water in her hand. "Thank you for reminding us", I say and Jack laughs from behind me. For a 5-year-old she really has a mind of her own and acts more grown-up than people my age. "I want to find someone that will love me", she says in the most adorable way and I smile at her. "Meg, you will find someone who will treat you like a princess", I say as I kneel down in front of her. "Will I live in a castle?", she asks. "If you want to then I say you should", Jack says and Meg nods. "That's what I'll do. Marry a prince and live in a castle", she says. "It doesn't have to be a prince, it can be anyone who will be perfect for you", I say to her. "Yes I know but only a prince has a castle", she smiles and Jack and I laugh. "Whatever you want, Meg. No one is stopping you", I say and she nods. She turns to walk upstairs to her room yelling for my mum. Jack hugs me from behind and whispers, "I'm your prince". I smile and lay my head against his. I want moments like this to last forever.
I have thought about the relationship Jack and I have. I really like him, I won't deny it but I do think it is too early to start saying 'I love you'. I want to be with Jack but if I do, something will ruin it and I will be alone again with no one to share my rare quiet moments with. I get told all the time that I will accomplish so many great things in life with my skills and good grades but I know that's not true. I don't want to be labelled, I want to have happiness with the love of my life and have a family to spend all my time with. Right now, the love of my life has a blank face but it is starting to change and the person I picture is Jack. I need to figure out my feelings now or Jack will be gone before I know it and there goes my happy ending.
