Chapter 28 ~ They're Here

Laura's Pov

Well. Here's a little recap on the events of the day. I started having contractions at around 6am, but since they were so far apart, I knew it wasn't a big deal.

Once they started to get closer together, we called the midwife, Julie, over so we could get everything ready. Haz and I decided on an at-home water birth for the twins. I wanted things to be completely natural.

With Darc, we did an all-natural birth, but it was at the hospital and things felt more stressful. So we decided it would be better to do things at home this time around.

Lou picked up Darc after Julie got here. She's gonna stay over there until the birth is over. She knows what's going on, but Haz and I agreed that she does not need to witness the birth.

As of 30 minutes ago, I am six centimeters dilated and this labor is definitely going slower than when I was in labor with Darc. There's a lot less pain, but it's taking longer.

Haz came over to me and said, "How ya feeling baby?" "For a woman in labor, not too terrible. I just wish things would speed up. I'm ready to meet my babies."

"I know. Also. I texted the 5SOS boys to tell them that you were in labor, and Cal said he's excited to share his birthday." "Oh gosh. I totally forgot today was Cal's birthday."

"It's okay babe. You've had other things to think about today." "Can you tell him I say happy birthday?"

"Way ahead of you baby girl. I already did." "Thank you baby."

Julie came over to me and said, "Let's see how dilated you are now." I nodded and she checked me out.

"Alright Laura. You're nine centimeters. I think it's time to get in the tub." I nodded and took my shorts off so I could get in the tub.

Haz said, "Not long until our babies are here." "I can't wait. I'm so excited to have my little angels in my arms."

Before I knew it, I was fully dilated and it was time to push. Haz got in the tub behind me and grabbed my hands. Julie said, "Alright sweetie. I need you to push on your next contraction."

As soon as my contraction hit, I started pushing. Haz said, "You're doing great baby."

After a few more pushes, the first baby was out. Julie said, "Baby A is a boy."

She laid him on my chest and he immediately started crying. I said, "Aw baby boy. It's okay."

Haz said, "He's so beautiful baby." Julie had me deliver his placenta and once that was out, we had a short break.

We kept his umbilical cord attached so he could get the nutrients from the placenta. While we were waiting for our baby girl to drop, Julie started to squeeze the placenta to aid in the transition of nutrients.

Soon it was time to deliver our baby girl. She was out a lot quicker than our boy. Once she was out, along with her placenta, we made sure all of her nutrients were transferred and then both of the cords were cut.

Haz said, "Look what we made baby." "They're so beautiful Haz."

Julie said, "So. What are their names?" I looked down at my angels and said, "Caylen Matthew and Paisley Rae."
