- Harrowgate, three years after the Battle of the Shard... -
The war is at its highest peak. Army after army were destroyed. Soldier after soldier were killed. Settlements after settlements were burned to the ground. It was total war.
Ashfeld's forces, despite the assistance of the Centurions and of the Gladiators from the numerous arenas in the realm, they found themselves being pushed back, sending the Knights holding down on Harrowgate after losing the region of Blackstone Hills along with the Shard where Apollyon was defeated, and where the war began anew.
It didn't stop there. The very volcano that sit right between the borders erupted, causing untold destruction and suffering to those who experienced it. Poisonous fumes and scorching lava ravaged through anything that stood in the way. The Knights were the ones who felt the destruction the worst. In just a week, their armies fell.
(Argen) Lorderius returned to the eastern front to Harrowgate. He and countless other leaders took it upon themselves to evacuate their people further back, away from the bloodshed as they form blockades. They were successful, but there is also the issue of the shortage of soldiers. They know that the Vikings and the Samurai will take advantage of their severely weakened state, and they don't have the power to defend for longer.
Amber Lorderius left for the northern front, joining her alive and well parents in their struggle against the Vikings. There, the Knights had seen greater successes, having able to deflect any attack that the Warborn threw at them. However, even that isn't enough.
(Argen) and his officers from the different forces of Knights including the Lightshield Cohort have been tirelessly planning for anything that can happen. The untimely eruption of Mount Ignis brought an unbearable burden to all of them, and they often had to command their forces personally. Some didn't make it.
He knew that this may well be their last stand, and he might die here in Harrowgate, but he is a warrior-
And a warrior will not let that thought interfere with his duty.
Ademar: "Urgh... Sorry for my tardiness..." Ademar, one of the acting commanders of the Iron Legions limped inside the room as he is still injured from his last battle.
Joseph Louis: "It's not a problem, mon amie. You should be resting." The commander of the French contingent tells him.
Ademar: "I know, but we need everyone right now, more than ever." Ademar replies to Louis who nodded in understanding.
Galen Striver: "Very well. I believe everyone is here, Lord Warden." Galen Striver, now (Argen's) enforcer alongside Zirem Hirtzel tells hjm.
(Argen): "Right then. Tell me whatever news you have." (Argen) says to the officers.
Commander Muselton: "Lord Warden. The Green Anchor lost the last port we have in Sow Mesa. The Darkrose and Fourteenth Legions weren't able to save it in time." An officer from the Green Anchors says to (Argen).
Commander Joh: "The Zephyr Legion are requesting for reinforcements in Ilkaya's Barrier. They said that they can only hold for one more month before they lose the region." An Iron Legion officer says.
Commander Dalton: "We are stretched too thin already, Commander Joh. We are expecting another assault here in Harrowgate very soon. We cannot spare more men." Another Iron Legion officer tells his fellow.
(Argen): "Commander Dalton, let Commander Joh speak. I want to hear everything." (Argen) says to him and he nodded.
Commander Joh: "Thank you, Lord Warden. As I was saying, they cannot hold for longer. Their spies have informed them that the Warborn are massing up north of Ilkaya's Barrier. Their forces are too battered to hold off such a horde of barbarians, and even if they repulsed, they will lose more men and the one month will become days." The officer continues.
