Lexie raced up the stairs and didn't have time to take a breath before she was dragged into the house by her hair. She got a slap across her face. Lexie tasted blood as she tried to plead.
He pushed her against the coffee table, sending the flower-vase flying across the room, water splashing on the floor. He punched her, not giving a damn where his hands met.
"You think I have all day, right? Keeping me waiting like some stray dog?". He shouted viciously in between the punching and kicking."I gave an order and you deliberately flaunted it. You must have thought 'What's he going to do. He is such a weak old man, huh?'" He slapped her "I will show you who is boss now"
The phone rang, the shrill noise cutting him short. He took deep breaths, tried to control his breathing. He picked up the phone and in a calm voice started to talk "Nielson"
A pause
"Of course. I will take care of it"
Another pause
"Definitely. I understand".The line went off. "Dammit".He kicked the chair in anger and glared at her cowering behind the chair. He was even more annoyed at her cowardice.
"Get up, bitch. I am having a guest." With that he stalked to his room.
Lexie bit back a groan as she stood up. Pain seared through her body as she stood. She knew better than to waste time. Lexie hurriedly cleaned up. She didn't want to get beaten again.
Ding Dong Ding
The bell rang. Lexie opened the door and felt waves of nausea run through her stomach. She definitely hated this man, with his sneering mouth and always glistening forehead.
Without a word, Lexie stepped back for him to enter. He pinched her thigh as he made his way inside.
"Welcome, man".Lexie's dad patted Johnson on the back.
"Sure man! I am so hungry. What is on for tonight?"
"Lexie?".Her dad snapped.
"There is plum pudding, open face egg-and-cheese sandwich, chocolate cookies with pancakes".Lexie recited with a blank expression.
"Don't you have any beer?" Johnson asked, a sneer in his voice as usual.
Lexie managed to glare at him without making it obvious. With a tight-lipped smile, she replied "None"
"Fuck!" Johnson swore. He slugged Lexies father in the arm. "Come on, man. Lets go to Tip-up and have ourselves a few drinks and some of those babes they serve alongside them"
"Go on. I am right behind you"
Johnson sauntered out of the room, obviously proud of his thoughts.
Nielson walked over to Alexandra, gripped her by the arm and whispered in her ear. "By the time I get back, my brandy should be waiting on the table or-"
"Come on. Whats taking so long?" Johnson urged, in a hurry to get free servicing.
Lexie's dad walked out and drove off with Johnson shouting like a maniac.
Thank God! They were gone. Lexie cleaned up behind them and went up to her room, locking the door behind her.
The guy with the mysterious eyes was her last coherent thought before she fell asleep.
