Trusting Betrayal

Chapter Sixteen

   Nathan threw the keys to the valet, ignoring the look on the valet’s face as he looked at the truck in distaste, and walked up the steps leading into the Golden Empire. He walked across the foyer and took the steps ignoring the elevator. He needed to burn off some annoyance.

     He went to the gym and worked out furiously. Finally, able to sit still without thinking about her, he draped a towel around his neck and made his way to his room for a shower. He didn’t bother to switch on his lights as he walked into his room. His phone pinged as it received a text message. Engrossed in the text, he sat on the bed and almost instantly let out a girlish scream.

“What the fuck?” He drew the covers back to see Brittany in her near naked state, wrenching her eyes shut as if she thought he still couldn’t see her. “How did you get into my room?”

   Brittany smiled and managed to strike a seductive pose. “I want you, Nathan. So damn much that I can go to any length to get you.” She leaned forward so that her neckline would droop to show just the perfect enticing amount of bosom.

Nathan was dumbfounded and angry somewhere in his head. His brain wasn’t even processing any sexual feeling that he ought to have gotten as he had perfect view of Brittany’s very seductive body.
       “Brittany, if you want me to want you you’ve got to stop all these your shit. What the hell do you mean by sneaking up on me? Did you think I would be too tired that I would sleep with you?”. He walked to the door. “Now, please leave my room. You can go to one of the guest rooms or even Tatiana’s room”

    Brittany pouted at him. She was here in her best lingerie and he was sending her out. Even Luke couldn’t resist her when she wore the other one. She got up sluggishly, trying to make her movements as sexual as possible. She stretched so that the already low neck-line would tighten across her breasts. She licked her lips as she made her way to him so that it would look  fuller. At least, Luke liked that and all the other men she had tried it with-not that she had made that much effort. Nathan couldn’t be any different… or could he? She slanted a look at him. He was looking at her but not in a sexual way. His hair was wet and his shirt was wet, emphasizing his abs filled stomach, his-

“Brittany.” His brow rose at the way she was staring at him. “Go on”

“Okay” she paused at the thresh-hold. “You will still want me. I will make sure of that”. With that, she sashayed from the room.

  Nathan slammed the door behind him. The VN had some explaining to do. Locking his door behind him, he entered the shower. Leaning his hands on the tiled wall, even the water cascading down his back couldn’t stop his thoughts from going to her again. Damn it! He reduced the temperature again.

   Alexandra staggered under the weight of the files she was carrying as she ascended the stair-case. Two more steps to go. She counted victoriously. One- “Mmph!” The files spilled on the floor and she was about to meet the same fate when a pair of arms shot out and prevented her from falling. Thank God! She raised her face to look into-

        “Let me help.” He released her and bent to pick the files that had scattered all over the floor.

  Lexie stared at him. What was he doing here? This was private area. “Thank you”. She joined him on the floor and started picking the remaining of the files. She looked up and their eyes met. Lexie felt like she was looking into glass. His eyes were so clear and full of emotion.

Luke felt the jolt as he stared at the woman on the floor beside him. “I am Luke” He gave her a devastating smile as he waited to hear her name.

Lexie couldn’t help but smile back. “I am Alexandra but my friend calls me Lexie”

     Luke got up and stretched out a hand for her to take so he could pull  her up. She smiled gratefully and put her hand in his. Whoa! Her hand was so soft. “So, where are you going to with all these files? Couldn’t somebody help you with it?”

    Lexie shook her head. “There was no need. I could handle it and I was going to my office”

“Yeah. Obviously” He grinned as he helped her carry some of the files.      “So, you work here. How is it like?”

  Lexie shrugged. “It is okay.” They got to her office. “Just dump the files on that table over there, please”.

Luke did as she said and looked around the room. It was average and it had grey and peach outlines everywhere. It was cute and suited her.

  Lexie looked at him as he took in her office and felt the urge to break the silence. “Do I get you coffee or something?”

Luke turned to look at her and grinned. “Nah. I am okay. I have to leave now, anyway” he moved to the door. “Nice meeting you, Lexie” He winked before he walked away.

Lexie smiled at the door. Another friend! What-. The shrill noise of the phone disrupted her thoughts.
     “Hello….”
