Mark reviewed the papers on his desk. Something caught his attention. Dropping the papers back on the desk, he picked up the red file. Opening it, he stared at the proposal that Venalz be partnered with Swanson Jz. What the fuck! He ringed for his personal secretary.
“Yes sir?”
“Get here right now!” He slammed the receiver and continued to stare at the proposal.
The secretary came in within seconds. She must have run. “Sir?” she was nervous. You were unfortunate if you were the one that the boss vented his anger on.
Mark picked up the file again and shoved at her. “What is the meaning of this?”
She picked it up nervously and looked at it. She didn’t understand what his anger was. Weren’t they friends? “It is a proposal to partner with Venalz, sir”
Mark glared at her. “Did I say I couldn’t read? Are you implying that I am blind or deformed mentally?” He roared. He got up and went to his mini-bar and poured himself a glass of whiskey. “What I am asking is what is it doing on my desk and not in the trashcan?”
She was confused. “I thought it was relevant. It was the Managing secretary that got it filed and sent it here. She is always thorough with things like that”
Mark scoffed. “Get the Managing Secretary here right now!”. He swiveled around to face the city. He had dismissed her.
His personal secretary couldn’t command her legs to move. It took a few more seconds for her brain to clear up enough for her to remember that she’d better get going if she didn’t want to get fired. She quickly left his office.
She rang for the managing secretary’s office. “Please get here as soon as possible”. She disconnected the call.
Within minutes, the M.S had arrived. “What’s going on? Is there a problem?”
Mark’s personal secretary bit her lip and wondered what to say. Well! It was not her duty. “The CEO demands your presence immediately”. She felt bad for her colleague. The boss had been extra moody and impatient lately. Something must have happened between Mr. Venala and Mr. Swanson. She wondered what it was. Hmmm… Now, someone was getting the brunt of his anger, thank goodness it wasn’t her.
The managing secretary was confused. What could have possibly been wrong that the boss had called for the office of the Managing Secretary? His personal secretary was even acting weird. Well…. One couldn’t know what it was until the problem was faced. With a breath, the M.S opened the door and stepped inside the lion’s den.
Mark was still facing the city, oblivious to the fact that someone was standing right by his desk.
The managing secretary stood patiently by the desk. It was common knowledge that the CEO hated to be disturbed even if he had called you. The M.S couldn’t take it anymore after standing there for more than thirty minutes. “Sir?”
Mark swiveled around in annoyance and faced the pest, a reprimand on his lips which trailed off the moment he registered who was standing by his desk. It was that woman from earlier…. He never did get her name. He smirked evilly.
“We meet again”. His smirk still on his lips.
Lexie gulped.
