The Beginning (3rd book in the 'Adopted' series)

Chapter 12

Ryan's pov ---year ago---

We were at this restaurant with Brandie, her friends from the academy, and Hollywood Undead. Pete and Brandie have officially been outside forever.

They walked in and Emily saw them, smiled and waved, before yelling, "HEY WE'RE OVER HERE! I KNOW YOU SEE US I JUST WANTED TO EMBARRASS EVERYONE!"

Pete laughed and Brandie kinda looked like she wanted to die.

As the dinner progressed I just wanted to kill Bethany more and more. She's a fucking bitch. Seriously, I'm going to shoot her.

Then Brandie took care of it. All of us were thankful for that. But still I had this bad feeling. Like there's something she wasn't telling us. But the feeling went away when Rose laughed,

"Brandie you're not gonna get the spoon to stay on your nose!"

Brandie raised her eyebrows and smirked, "20 bucks says I can."

Rose cocked an eyebrow before shaking Brandie's hand smiling, "20 bucks says you can't."

Everyone seemed so interested and I was trying not to laugh. None of them know that Brandie's pro at hustling. Soon there was more bets being placed and I finally laughed,

"20 bucks says she can."

Brandie smiled and gave me a wink before picking up the spoon and cautiously placing it on her nose. She then removed her hand and the spoon stayed there.

Everyone's jaws dropped and I high fives Brand beaming, "Still a con woman I see."

Brandie rolled her eyes and patted my cheek before smiling, "Only around my friends, you guys bring out the best in me."

With that everyone broke out laughing. Brandie then pretended to be upset and mumbled,

"Who said I was joking?"

So we all got quiet for a second and she started laughing so hard that tears came to her eyes. We started laughing and she managed to gasp,

"You Gus are such idiots! I can't believe you fell for that!"
