Two boys sat under an oak tree. One had a diamond axe, the other with an iron sword. Wood was piled beside them, as they sat, panting.
"You think that's enough wood for the tree house?" The boy with the diamond axe asked.
The one with the sword smiled at him.
"Yeah, I think this is enough. Cmon, let's get going before mom gets angry at us for being late." The freckled boy replied.
The two got up, walking to the village. Horses pulled carts around, as the wooden wheels bounced up and down on the gravel path.
This village was a rather small one, with houses made of wood and stone. The town hall towered above all the other houses and shops, for its tallest tower was the watch tower.
The two boys could see the large flag flapping in the wind high above on the top of the tower. An emerald, the symbol of their village.
Torches lit the sides of houses, and people were standing by the road either performing, or selling items.
After a long walk, they reached a house that looked like all the others, but it stood on the outer rings of the village. It had iron numbers on its door.
437.(I just thought that up Blegh)
They knocked on the wooden door, both carrying backpacks with about 64 wood logs each. (That's the max blocks can get without modifications to the game if you don't know) A few seconds later, a little girl about a few inches smaller than them opened the door.
"Aww, I thought you were mommy! She hasn't come back ever since you guys left this morning! Did you bring any food back home?" Their little sister asked hopefully.
"Mom's been... Missing..?" The freckled boy asked, startled. He slowly looked at the boy with the axe.
Their sister nodded, her red pigtails bouncing.
"Where's dad then?" The boy with the axe asked, looking back with fear in his eyes.
"He's gone, too! Same time as mommy!" The little girl replied.
"Okay, Julia. Let us in. I'll prepare some dinner and we can talk about it then." The freckled boy said.
The little girl pushed the door completely open, and the freckled boy shut the door behind them.
-
"So, what happened?" The freckled boy asked Julia.
"Well... It's hard to explain actually. William was last to leave, he could tell you." Julia said, playing with her pig tails.
They both looked at the boy that had the axe. Now, it was right beside his foot, just in case if they needed to defend themselves from zombies.
"I don't know, I saw something outside the window flying by, but I thought it was nothing." That was all William said. "I'm sorry, but I don't know anything else."
"Julia, what do you know?" The freckled boy asked his sister.
He too had his sword beside his leg, for this was the longest durable sword they could've found in the household.
"After you guys left, the torches went out. Like, snap! Bam, sizzle. I ran up the stairs to find mommy and daddy, but they were gone. I was pounding on their door for hours, because I couldn't find the stone axe in our kitchen anywhere. It wasn't even in its chest! When it became sunset, the door finally opened, and all I saw was a spooky figure zipping through the sky in the window. It flew into that bright thing... What was it called again? Yeah, the sun. Then, bam, it was gone! Almost like magic!" Julia said, imatating explosions with her hands.
"We never should have left the house... That door is brittle, we could've smashed it down with the diamond axe in a second!" William moaned, slumping down onto the table.
"Wait, Julia, did you say the stone axe was gone?" The freckled boy frowned.
"Yeah!" She replied. "Wait, why ask?"
The freckled boy stood up, his chair sliding back with a 'creeeeaak.' The wood floor creaked as he walked over to the large chest, and he opened it. A stone axe rested on the very top, with its glowing engravings signaling it had about 3 or 4 more uses before it broke.
"Our axe wasn't this used up before, was it?" The freckled boy asked.
"Jason, throw it here! I need to check if those engravings are right. Stone tools aren't too reliable." William called.
Jason threw the stone axe at William, which turned into a harmless item at command.
William picked it up and tapped the end of the handle. Slamming it into the ground, he looked at it. The engraving flickered, and turned into 3 uses left.
"This thing's durability enhancements aren't broken from what I see. It's perfectly fine..." William explained.
"But why would its durability be so low?" Jason wondered out loud, holding up the handle of the axe.
"We can solve this tomorrow, let's go to bed." William 'suggested.'
-
Bang. Bang. Bang. Smash!
Jason and Wiliam shot up from their bunks, as Julia just rolled completely off her bed. Luckily, it was the lowest one. (Yep, three level bunk bed. HAH!)
"The door's broken down, CMON! We need to get out before the zombies overwhelm the house!" Jason shouted over the ruckus. Zombies overwhelmed the village, and players ran out, slashing their way through the streets.
"We can hold them off, right Will?" William hugged his diamond axe.
"You named your axe now?! You're insane!" Jason hissed, grabbing Julia and William's hands, pulling them out the window with him. Jason had his iron sword tucked in a sheath on his back, with Julia hugging her backpack, full of emergency items. William regained his alertness, his axe in a sheath on his belt.
They landed in the soft snow, and they fled into the forest.
Zombies overwhelmed the village, and a hooded figure cackled, floating above the chaos as he watched the three children flee.
"You'll never be safe, nobody ever is..." He hissed.
