blue violetsIt was 2AM when Gwyneth walked out of her bedroom in her tiny shorts and her brother's worn out shirt to see Adelyn still in the living room. She was typing on her laptop with her tired eyes and her obvious sleepy hands. Her head was already heavy from the fatigue she's feeling but she would shake her head off, stretch her back, and continue doing her work.
Gwyneth made her presence known in the room, walking to the kitchen to heat drinking water for her coffee. She stared at her crush, feeling her heart flutter when Adelyn rubbed her eyes gently and yawned. She looked too cute for her in those blue cloud patterned pajama top and pants.
"Tired?" Gwyneth asked softly to not disrupt Adelyn.
"Yeah. Have to finish this before 6AM. My class starts at 7 in the morning." I know, Gwyneth wanted to reply but worry filled her mind instead.
"It's 2. Shouldn't you at least rest for an hour?"
"No," Adelyn yawned, "I'll nap once I'm done with this. What about you?"
"I cockily accepted some commissions, only finished like 2 out of 5 of them. Thank God I only have two classes tomorrow."
Adelyn chuckled, "Lucky you," she said. Gwyneth shook her head, thinking that what she did was ridiculous and impulsive. Normally, she would estimate the time and the effort but not tonight.
Gwyneth poured one pack of instant coffee powder in her mug along with the hot water. The familiar smell of coffee wafted through the air, making the place feel more comfortable for the two people living in it.
The brown haired girl walked over to sofa, sitting beside the blue eyed woman and putting her mug of sweet coffee on the table beside her roommate's books. Gwyneth put a pillow on her lap, tapping on it to silently tell Adelyn to rest her head on it.
Adelyn refused, shaking her head as she continues to type on her laptop half awake. Gwyneth made a sound between a whine and nag before Adelyn agreed with a small sigh.
"I swear if I fall asleep—"
"I'll wake you up after an hour if you did."
"20 minutes," Adelyn bargained.
"50,"
"30,"
"45,"
"40,"
"Deal." Gwyneth agreed with a small chuckle, running her hands through the blue eyed girl's soft short black hair that reaches her nape.
Adelyn's eyes fluttered close at the contact, subtly stretching her legs on the excess space on the sofa. A habit she does before she sleeps that Gwyneth finds extremely adorable. Adelyn crossed her arms on her chest, snuggling on the soft pillow and simultaneously pushing her head on Gwyneth's hand.
Her heart fluttered for the second time that time. Gwyneth hums a soft lullaby, Sweet Night by V, Adelyn's favorite lullaby since it was released. The girl laying her head on her lap smiled when she heard the familiar tune and continued to a slumber with a smile on her face.

As promised, she gently shook Adelyn awake after 40 minutes, even debating with herself whether or not to let her sleep for the whole night but deciding against it since she, herself, can't finish Adelyn's work even if she wants to.
Adelyn's eyes fluttered open, then she sits down while staring blankly into space. Gwyneth walks back into the kitchen to make another cup of coffee.
"Hey Ade, want a fresh mug of coffee? Or do you want my cold one on the table?" Gwyneth asked, looking through the drawer for a teaspoon.
"I'll just have yours. Can I get some ice?" It was a strange request but Gwyneth gave some to her anyway. Adelyn proceeded to put four ice cubes in the once hot coffee. She put it on her lips, sipping on her iced coffee to wake herself completely.
Gwyneth chuckled at the blue eyed girl typing on her laptop half awake as she stirs her hot coffee. She sat down on the sofa beside her, spreading her left arm on the headrest beside Adelyn, subtly touching her shoulders. Adelyn shivered at the contact but her face remained serious to focus on her own work.
"So, what's with the Kai guy?" Gwyneth asked seriously.
Adelyn replied with a laugh and said, "he's a classmate. Why? You jealous?"
Gwyneth sputtered the coffee on the table from her mouth, coughing from the question that Adelyn asked her. She watched the coughing girl, amused by her reaction that was not at all confusing.
"Am not. I'm going to my room." Gwyneth replied with red cheeks, carrying her mug to her room, sulking with a pout while Adelyn only laughs as she types away on her laptop.
