Blake watched his friend sit uneasy in front of him. When all of his and Gwyneth's classes were done, Adelyn invited them all to eat dinner at this new place she found. She even invited Kai, her classmate that they just met today.

Gwyneth sat beside Adelyn, who's beside Kai and was talking to the curly haired boy about their upcoming project that the professor plans to assign. Quinn was in the middle of Blake and London who are eating their food with gusto.

The atmosphere was lighthearted. Everyone quickly became at ease at Kai's presence since he was really that friendly and nice. London was even chatting with him and that was a big thing since she's not that sociable unlike Gwyneth or Quinn. Kai made everyone laugh with his jokes or stories and it made Gwyneth feel insecure about herself.

"I'm gonna go grab some meat." Gwyneth announced to the group, getting up from her seat. Kai saw her and stood up as well, "let me go with you." Gwyneth just nodded her head nonchalantly even though she was irritated inside.

"So, what course did you shift from?" Gwyneth asked Kai when they reached the buffet table.

"I've always been classmates with Adelyn since last year. I just never really had the courage to approach her." Gwyneth tilted her head in confusion.

"Do you, perhaps, like her?" She asked slowly.

He nodded shyly in reply, grabbing a spoonful of sauce into the small bowl on his plate. "Just don't let her know. I'm planning to ask her out for a while now."

Gwyneth's heart beat faster at that statement. Damn, she thought. How can this guy be quick when I've had a crush on Adelyn since high school? Gwyneth only hummed in reply before turning away from the 5'7" guy beside her.

Blake quickly noticed her change of mood when both Kai and Gwyneth came back to the table. Gwyneth's russet eyes were cast down in a depressing state, grabbing whatever she can in front of her. Blake's hand nudged hers, asking her if she's okay with his eyes. She only nodded with the smallest smile she can muster.

When Adelyn was grabbing some meat from Gwyneth's side of the table, she saw Gwyneth chewing slowly with her back hunched. She instantly became worried for her best friend. Why was she eating so slowly when she picked this place because this was Gwyneth's favorite type of food?

"Hey, you okay? Are you full?" Adelyn asked softly, as to not startle the brown eyed girl.

Gwyneth snapped out from her sad state when her eyes became contact with Adelyn's, quickly looking away from the blue eyed girl to distract herself while answering, "no, I'm okay."

The blue eyed girl frowned at that, swiftly noticing her change in demeanor. She only sighed knowing that Gwyneth probably won't tell her about what's going on in her head again.

Being best friends for years meant that each of those two girls know whenever something's wrong with the other. Certain habits were done depending on the mood they're in. And this time, Adelyn knows that her best friend is upset because of her posture and the way she eats.

Kai quickly opened the door for Adelyn as she gets out fo her car. Gwyneth rolled her eyes at this, getting out of the backseat while carrying Adelyn's second bag.

"Thanks for inviting me to dinner with your friends. I had fun tonight," Kai said to Adelyn.

"It was nothing. Thanks for driving us home."

Kai smiled at Adelyn, slowly coming closer but before he could lean in, Adelyn pat his back and walked towards Gwyneth who's waiting for her at the entrance of the building. Kai frowned and it even got deeper when he saw Adelyn linked her arms with Gwyneth.

I can't be jealous, he thought. Him and Adelyn were merely close friends, let alone best friends. But even he can see how different Gwyneth acts around Adelyn. He's not an idiot. He has a best friend of his own and both of them don't look at each other the way those two girls do.

Gwyneth and Adelyn reached their apartment and Gwyneth set down their things in the living room. She reached inside her bag, grabbing her box of cigarettes and lighter in the pocket.

"I'm gonna go smoke." Gwyneth mumbled to Adelyn who's resting on the couch with her head on the headrest.

Adelyn's eyebrows furrowed at that. She hated it when Gwyneth smokes. Smoking cigarettes is one of the many vices that Gwyneth avoided throughout highschool but since college started, she picked up the habit of smoking whenever she's upset or too stressed. She never scolded Gwyneth for that because she knows that Gwyneth knows about the precautions of that type of habit.

Powerless is what she's always felt whenever Gwyneth takes out a stick from that box. And she hated it.

The balcony door opened behind Gwyneth but she ignored it, already knowing that it's her crush. She blew out a puff of smoke into the air as Gwyneth stands beside her quietly. Silence ensued the two for a while before Adelyn spoke.

"We've been friends for years, Gwy. I know when something's bothering you or when you're upset about something." She tells her, insinuating Gwyneth to tell her of her problems.

"I don't know if I want to tell you about this." Gwyneth said before putting the finished cigarette on the ashtray. She sighed, playing with her own sweater paws in the dim light of the balcony, slightly annoyed and sad when she heard the word "friends".

Adelyn only replied with a small pout while playing with her mullet. She smelt the faint scent of nicotine that stick on Gwyneth's striped shirts. Her nose scrunched at it.

"I don't really want to tell you what to do but," she paused, hesitating on what words to say without sounding like she's imposing on her. "Can you at least find a vice with a more pleasing smell?" Gwyneth chuckled.

"I've been saving up for vape. I know you hate the smell of cigs but they're cheaper that's why I still use them. You know I can't just give up on a habit." Gwyneth says as they both sat down on the floor.

Adelyn leans her head on the taller girl's shoulder, ignoring the bad smell and instead finding comfort in her presence itself. Gwyneth blushed at the contact but she didn't pull away. It felt good and normal when she did it.

Her heart won't stop beating fast and while the butterflies in her stomach slowly became into a zoo when she put a hand on Adelyn's knee slowly, seeing if she will react on it. But she didn't. She even held onto Gwyneth's arm to snuggle closer.

Adelyn played a song that they're both familiar with. It was from a Korean soloist that they both like. The familiar tune of guitar plays in the background. They both hum the melody while watching the stars. This moment right here was something that they're acquainted with but somehow, something was different.

"Is my mind playing tricks on me
Cause this all seems like reality"
